<p>As I said, I would anticipate 4 weeks. Data has to be entered for 1000’s of applicants, decisions made, and data updated again with notifications.</p>
<p>Sent mine in I think October 15? Around there. I just heard from them today. I got my acceptance email today - will get the packet later next week maybe. I’ll probably qualify for the automatic 9k scholly and direct admit for Kelley. I was also invited to compete the Selective Scholarship App, but that application is daunting: 3 essays, 2 LOR. Do you guys think I could get any extra scholly money with a 32 ACT, decent EC’s, fairly well-written essays, and decent LOR (HHC and Kelley’s Scholars)</p>

<p>YES…Definitely complete the SSA application (and you don’t have a ton of time so don’t delay…only 30 days and it goes by SO quickly at this time of year when y’all are concentrating on getting good grades for this final semester of grades that has to be sent to colleges).</p>
<p>What if you get just ONE of the MANY scholarship options? Is $4000-$20,000 (or more) worth writing 3 essays? My D…who struggled with the many essays for her other colleges…whipped this application out pretty quickly. Do NOT throw money down the drain. I don’t know anything about Kelly as my D is not majoring in business, but Hutton offers…I think $1000-$5000 per year all by itself. </p>
<p>I’ll be your surrogate parent for the day and tell you my D did not have a CHOICE in this matter, nor should you. If your parents are paying, you really MUST fill this out! </p>

<p>just got accepted. I had a 29 ACT, 4.14 weighted GPA, 3.9 weighted GPA, 5 APs, very little extracuriculars, and I sent in no personal statements or recommendations. Also I’m out of state and applied for Accounting.</p>
<p>I was accepted as well as an out of state econ major. I had a 33 ACT, 3.14 unweighted, 3.69 weighted. I had taken basically every IB class possible at my school, and had only a few extracurriculars.</p>
<p>Woohoo I got accepted! 28 ACT and 4.1w GPA out of state, now hopefully it’ll be affordable…</p>

<p>I’m so curious what makes an “OOS student” want to go to IU. What’s the draw? Is it to attend one of the more well reknown schools such as music or business? I mean, LostSimpson…why accounting at IU when you surely have great (and cheaper) schools in your state? The reason I ask is because my D is a “Hoosier”. Of COURSE the “grass is always greener” and she wants to go out of state. Because IU is going to be SO reasonably priced for her…I like to quote CCers who WANT to come in for IU.</p>
<p>It’s for sure Kelley. I have UCONN in state which is somewhat reputable but I feel with Kelley I’m assured a job and internship, also it’s very highly ranked.</p>
<p>Reasons my daughter chose IU over many in-state (California) options:
- Looked at it to begin with because of the reputation of the Kelley school;
- Visited campus after being admitted and fell in love with the campus (the look and feel of it and friendliness of the people). The chemistry was just right, which is a “soft” criteria but important;
- Wanted to try living in a different part of the country (the grass is greener for Californians, too). I have to admit that’s been a good growth experience for her so far.</p>
<p>r12, the reason son picked iu is that 3 of his chem teachers got their phd at IU. before he went to his current school he hated chemistry, now its his passion… thanks to these teachers.</p>
<p>I’m still not sure why my daughter put down IU has her first choice. We’re on the west coast in CA and yet she doesn’t want to be like so many of her fellow classmates and choose a college near the beach. She wants to experience something different. And, she wants a large university with lots of school spirit, some Greek and partying, a college town…and above all, a traditional campus with older buildings. She even wants snow and cold winters! Ha! At least she says that NOW! I also think she wants a little LESS diversity than the UCs here in CA. Maybe the Midwestern congeniality sounds appealing to her?</p>
<p>The only thing is, she won’t be majoring in business or music or whatever else IU is famous for. She put down Therapeutic Recreation because she feels it will be a good lead-in for grad. school in Occupational Therapy. She’s put down Kinesiology or Exercise Science at other schools who don’t offer Therapeutic Recreation. Anyway, I’m not sure if it’s cost-effective to major in something across the U.S. that she can just as easily find here at a CSU school for a LOT less money. At the same time, I know it’s also about “the college experience” and she seems to feel that can be found at University of Indiana-Bloomington. We shall see! 
I have to agree that it does look like a nice place to spend 4 years!</p>
<p>Are you the one with the daughter who wants to go to NY? My daughter initially wanted to be in Boston. At least she’s moving it back toward the West a bit more.:)</p>

<p>When my daughter applied on October 18, her ACT score was 28. She had it sent in by ACT board. But, she knew she would be taking it again in hopes of raising it to 30. She really wants that Distinction Award for OOS of $36,000 for 4 years ($9,000 a year. </p>
<p>Well, she raised it to 30. YES!! And she got her Writing score back today (still a 9), so they should send it in soon, she hopes. She really wants $$$$ to be left in the Scholarship pool. </p>
<p>Has anyone here had an upgraded score sent in AFTER the initial score and got the higher scholarship? I would HOPE there would still be money left. She definitely qualifies for it with her 4.15 GPA and 30 ACT. Being out-of-state I sure wish it were about 5-grand more. :)</p>

<p>Anyway, YES, my D is VERY interested in NYU. We ADORE NYC, and my niece lives there. Neice went to IU undergrad then Columbia law and never came back. So I THINK I’m convincing my D that she can do that as well. If she goes to IU for free…then I can help with a more expensive grad school, provided she is admitted of course. I KNOW the attraction to NYU…I would like to see her go there. But…finances rule of course. But what if she then ends up not going to grad school after all? It’s going to be a long 5 month wait to see financial aid offers. </p>
<p>As to the “increased ACT score”…I feel PRETTY sure, but not quite, that it was in the Spring that I saw the notice appear on IU’s website that they were no longer offering any more scholarships for that year (out of money). I think, since you’re SO close to the “recommended” deadline…that you will probably have NO worries. But get that information to them a.s.a.p. of course (I assume you already have!). </p>

<p>It’s basically the most busy time for them right now, and it’s gonna take them a while to sort things out.</p>
<p>Also, your status will not change again. For me atleast, the status went directly from “Send this and this if you haven’t already” to “Congratulations…,” so you will most likely find out very soon.</p>

<p>ilovefhf, you should call the admissions office as soon as you can Monday at (812) 855-0661. The message on your admissions page, though vague, could mean that they need more information from you. You won’t know until you call them. Given your excellent stats, the longer you wait, the more you could hurt yourself in terms of getting automatic scholarship money and potential scholarship money from Hutton. My son applied in early October (a sophomore now) two years ago and we waited six weeks before contacting them, and it was a big mistake, as they had misplaced his transcript and no one bothered to tell us that. He did not get admitted to IU until Hutton money was probably almost gone, so he got nothing from them even with very good stats. </p>
<p>The admissions office has two workers there all day that answer the type of question that you have, and they can tell you in a matter of a few minutes what the hold up may be. And if they tell you there is no problem, then you will have the peace of mind that everything is going well.</p>
