Appeal chances?

Does anyone know how likely it is for an appeal to UCSB to work?

I got rejected despite my stats being above those of the average admit, likely because I applied as a Chemical Engineering major. If I express an intent to switch majors to an Undecided L/S major, would my appeal have merit? I can provide two great letters of rec too.

GPA: 4.41 (3.96 UW)
SAT I: 2110 (800M 660W 650CR)
SAT II: 790 Math II
Personal statements: 9.5/10

The waitlist info is from Ms Sun’s UC Blog. I will also give you the 2014 waitlist stats as a comparison.

The number of waitlisted applicants or opt ins are not available but they had 142 admits off the waitlist for 2014.
