Okay, so i am facing a dilemma.
I am one of those students that are smart, but, unfortunately, my 2.95 GPA doesn't prove it. I am just lazy, plain and simple. However, my ACT test score is a 28 with a 34/36 in math, english isn't my brightest subject =(.
So, anyways back to the topic. I applied to 6 UC's (UCLA, UCI, UCD, UCSB, UCB, UCSD), and i got rejected from all of them. I understand getting rejected from UCB, UCLA and UCSD, but i don't get why i got rejected from the rest.
28 ACT= 1890 SAT
I own a business
I am a LAUSD academic decathlete (Toughest section in the nation)
Track/Basketball athlete
What else does a college want? I seem like a well rounded student. I was thinking of appealing UCI, UCSB, and UCD's decisions. Do you think it is worth it? If you also think appealing UCSD (my dream school) is worth it, please let me know. I am disappointed by this outcome, and i can't seem to blame myself for being lazy.

I don't think an appeal would be successful.

You don't have the grades the UCs expect and I am pretty sure you don't have the class rank either. That 28 ACT won't have such a big impact on the admission decision either. 10% of test takers at one sitting score 28 or higher (and considering most students take the test more than once, considerably more than 10% score at least 28 at at least one sitting).

UCD: 2% had h.s. GPA between 2.5 and 2.99
UCI: 1% had h.s. GPA between 2.5 and 2.99
UCSB: 1% had h.s. GPA between 2.5 and 2.99
UCSD: The lowest reported GPA is 3.25

Your grades show that you don't care much about your academic success, and your test score demonstrates that you are above average smart but not brilliant by any means (statistically, a 28 ACT score corresponds with an IQ of 115-120). What did you expect?

After all, universities are academic institutions who are looking for good students and not well-rounded persons.

"I am just lazy, plain and simple. "

Colleges aren't looking for academically lazy students. Colleges want students who have the work ethic to do well in college. While I think that appealing will not be successful, I suggest that you appeal or else you'll always wonder "what if?"

Xslim -- The UC system offers bright students who may not have performed up to potential a wonderful opportunity to redeem themselves academically at CC and be automatically accepted to a UC for junior year. If you attend a CC under the UC transfer program and keep your grades at a certain level, you will be guaranteed UC admission, with many, many students transferring to UCLA and Berkeley. Turning your grades around at CC will also show the UC's that you have overcome your self-described laziness, are motivated, and can work at the high level they expect. I don't know if this is a path you want to take, but it is open to you, and you could end up with the same UCB diploma as a student who has been there all four years.

thank you for your replies.
I am planning on going to a CC with some friends and then transferring to a UC.
But, i am waiting on 2 more east coast colleges. I am expecting a rejection, but what if? =)
I regret ever been the lazy person i was, ehhh i hate living in the past...

UC Santa cruz is easy to get into apparently

Below a 3.0 might even make the lower UCs reaches. The UCs stress GPA immensely.

I have a life story behind this. From 9th-10th grade i was one of those stereotypical kids who followed the rap media being influenced by peer pressure. I just came out of a religious private school, entering a public school for my first time. Those years i played basketball for the school and did not really try that much on grades. i was happy with a B or C (only in subjects i suck at). Those 4 years i averaged a 2.6 gpa. Then starting 11th grade something hit me. I changed. I began getting 3.0+ GPAs and actually caring. I During 11th grade i realized that getting into a UC would be difficult but i still kept my head up. I was hoping schools would accept me for my achievements outside of school, and the classes i took in school. I am currently take CALC AB, i have taken 5 science classes since 9th grade, my participation in acadeca, and starting a business at 17 years old. I excel in math and science, but english isn't necessarily my favorite subject.
I guess my dreams shattered right infront of me. I hate the UC system =)

Go to a community college and get priority transfer to a UC.

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but here i go.
If i go to a CC and decide to transfer. Can i still apply to colleges outside of my state?

Yes, you can.
