It IS possible to appeal, but to have a chance at success, you really need to be able to demonstrate extenuating circumstances. For example, if you discover an error on your transcripts, and the corrected version raises your gpa, you might have grounds for an appeal.

There is an entire process with paperwork you need to fill out, and I believe an essay is involved. I suggest that you ask careful questions of the admissions office, and follow their recommendations.

My son got in on an appeal two years ago, due to a transcript mistake that dropped his gpa a tenth of a point. In this highly competetive environment, that was all it took to get him rejected. His high school guidance counselor called UF on his behalf, he turned in corrected transcripts, and he wrote a very sincere essay. It worked for him. He was notified that he got in on April 11.

If you cannot demonstrate exceptional circumstances, chances of a successful appeal are virtually zero. I suggest you talk with your high school guidance counselor for advice before proceeding.

the question is
what are extenuating circumstances.
I want to get in, and i do not want to go to fsu. is that a circumstance?
my older brother and sister are at uf right now and all of my friends are there. is that a reason, what is considered new and compelling.

An extenuating circumstance is something of significance that was somehow left out of your original application, or perhaps was unclear, or in error. Having UF as your first choice school is not an extenuating circumstance, even if you have been wearing blue and orange since you were in diapers.

Have you talked to your guidance counselor yet? They should be able to tell you if an appeal is worthwhile in your circumstances. You can appeal even if you can't demonstrate an exceptional circumstance -- but you would probably be wasting your time.

You never mentioned your stats -- what are they?
