Does anyone know the sucess rate of appeals? Do you know of anyone who has won an appeal to Clemson Thanks!

yeah i know a girl who got into bridge and appealed and got in… this year

what were her stats and what did she use to appeal.

Any other opinions on how I should approach the appeal?

if your grades have improved or stayed the same, consider sending another grade report to show consistency or improvement. If you have participated in any new activities or gotten any achievements, tell them about it. Maybe also write an essay talking about why you want to go to Clemson? and tell them that they are you first choice college.

basically anything to improve their view on you haha

I recently was accepted into the Bridge Program at Clemson and I appealed my application. My GPA increased .23 since Oct 2011 and is now 3.47/4.00. My class rank has increased from top 15% to top 13%. I’m retaking the SAT this Saturday. I wrote in my appeal that Clemson truly is my only option i’m considering even though i’ve been accepted into two other universities. My sister graduated there in May with highest honors. Hopefully they’ll take this into consideration and accept me! What do you think my chances are?

I’d definitely appeal if you are in Bridge and your stats have improved. Not sure what your chances are but if you lose your appeal you still get to be in the Bridge Program so you can’t really lose anything by appealing your decision.

What about the wait list? Can you appeal off there? Or would I have to wait until once I got a decision as to whether I’ve been accepted off the waitlist or not?

No you cannot appeal if you are on the wait list. If you find out you are not offered admissions once again and you are on the wait list, you can appeal then.

The undergraduate board is actually reviewing my appeal today and I should hear back the reply by next week. I’m feeling pretty hopeful, because they can now finally look at me as a whole and not just as a number. I hope they take into consideration what I have done to try to improve my chances of getting accepted. I’ll keep you posted about what the outcome is.

We are also waiting to hear back from Clemson … we also have friends who are appealing who had got placed into the Bridge program…How did you know they were reviewing it yesterday… I wished we knew when they were going to send out the letters we also have a friend who got denied and is appealing … good luck to you! and if you can let me know when you get your letter I wished they would just email you the letter… It had said you could get placed in the ESP for clemson also

Is there anybody else out there waiting to hear back fom Clemson undergraduate appeal I just hate not knowing what to do next … If it is a no thats fine Clemson is still our only 1 school… So is there anybody whos kids have done the bridge program …

CC,
My friend’s daughter did the bridge program a couple of years ago. They loved it. I was talking with her about concerns that our son might not get in and what we would do. She said definitely consider it. She said the transition to Clemson was an easy one.

Thank You,
I have heard great things about the Bridge Program but was concerned about when they bridge over to Clemson their GPA does not transfer with them so what does that do for their chances of sophmore scholarships that are in house and enhancemements for the Life scholarships and the chance to up it to the Palmetto … I am just trying to look ahead is it tthe best choice for the rest of the four years as far as rewards go

Crazycarolina, what are the other college alternatives other than the Bridge Program at Clemson?

we only applied at two because we wanted to stay in state … So Usc and Clemson And we got in to USC and you know the Bridge program but when we applied he applied under Health Science and biological Sciences then he did research and figured out he liked to go for a different major and did not ammend his application and then when we had got the letter and went to open house they said the health science was limited enrollment and the other one is real steep competition so after talking to you and doing research we decided to appeal to Clemson and includ his major change along with other credentials and a supplement letter explaining why the major change… he just loves science and figured what he had put down would have been a good place to start then later discovered something different. We have no ties with Clemson or USc we just love the school and think it is a better option for us the campus makes you feel safe and the staff and students are helpful and happy and there is not that many outside elements that would interfere with learning… thats the trump card for me it gives you the impression that your there for one reason only and that is to learn… we toured everywhere and went to many open houses college of charleston all they had to say at their open house was look there is a night club right here look you can go sailing look you can go listen to this band play over here all it was about was fUN FUN FUN not much said about academics so any who that is my stary in the nut shell …so we only applied to two

I am just a big what if person… and the waiting not knowing what to do next is driving me nuts I just do not know what to think they told us about 30 to 40 percent of appeals get a better decision so I just do not know out of how many applications
I went and did the tour for the bridge program and the did say that if they make a 3.0 on their gpa they will still have their life but they did not say anything about the enhancements or anything else… I do not want to bug them with questions since they are busy right now and we do not even know what the results are for the appeal just seems like wasted time …but I am sure they can answer all my questions this college forum I think is great for people like me to vent and to have people like you to be so helpful seeee like I had said before Clemson has the best people and Thank You all for taking the time out to reply and keep me sane

College of Charleston is actually a very solid school academically. You can still send in an application there and I would really encourage you to do that. It wouldn’t hurt to at least give yourself another possible option now. Academically you can argue that College Of Charleston is better than Clemson or USC on an undergraduate level because of the small size of the school and the small class sizes/individual attention you will be getting. They have a pretty good biological sciences program. Admissions wise, it’s less selective than Clemson but more selective than USC so the caliber of students going there is good. All in all, I’d recommend that you give it another look!

CC,
Curious what your son’s stats are? My son is a junior, so he won’t apply until next fall, and like you, I get nervous and don’t like to just wait around I’m trying to get an idea of the stats of those on this site who were accepted and those who were waitlisted, Bridge’d, or denied.
Thanks in advance!!

Truthfully, if he wants to get into his top choices-he needs to study and prepare for the standardized tests. Your chances for acceptance greatly increase and you may get money. My d denied at a few schools due to low SAT’s.
