Does anyone know how I can appeal my finaid? My EFC was ~4500 and they wanted me to take about 22,000 in loans. I tried to figure it out on the website, but i couldn't figure it out lol.

I'm debating between George Washington and Villanova and don't want to totally cross out Villanova from my list.

roblan: that sounds a little “pay me or lose me baby” don’t you think? I don’t know, I could be wrong but I really don’t think it’s a wise idea. Do you know anyone who actually succeeded doing that?

I read an article a while back about this guy who people paid to help to maximize their childs financial aid package.

lol

He gave examples of families he helped and in one i remember reading that he did that and the school did offer them more $.
But then again that’s not something I should be giving advice from because i doubt the validity of that guys claims.

EDIT:
this method is described on some of the sites i just checked out

I know some people who tried to do that, and it didn’t work. The admissions officers basically told them that they were being greedy and should be happy with what they have.

Yeah, chances are that sucesss with this isn’t in your favor…but it can’t hurt to try. You never know.

Obviously, if it did work, everybody would be appealing.

Villanova is pretty “stick to its guns” on Faid.

A rep from their finaid office called our house to see if we had any questions. Yeah, we did. Nova gave me all loans for finaid. No grants at all. My older sister starts grad school this fall, and our oldest sister recently shocked us all by saying SHE wants to go to college, finally. On top of that, my mom’s job might be eliminated next year.

My folks told Nova all this, and the rep basically said “too bad.” They give me nothing but loans so, at $53K a year, this is an offer that’s easy to refuse.

S got into 2 schools that were giving him Merit Aid. We don’t qualify for financial aid. Nova was NOT one of the ones to give Merit Aid. At 52K for the year it just isn’t worth it IMO. Yes it has a good rep but there are other considerations. Its good to go to a school that wants you as much as you want it.
