UCSB Appeal

Hey guys, so I got waitlisted at UCSB and I think I am going to appeal. My stats in a nutshell are 33 ACT, 780 Bio m SAT II, 750 math 2 SAT II, 1000+ hours of community service, 3.3 uc gpa (grades 10 - 11). For more details check my previous thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1055211-chance-me-ucs-good-act-sat-ii-crap-gpa.html.

I got a 4.2 uc weighted gpa first semester senior year, and a 4.0 second semester junior year. So I have an upward trend as far as gpa is concerned, and if you average in my 4.2 into my 10-11 grade gpa, it jumps from a 3.3 to a 3.5. So senior grades are my new information I guess. I also am going to get a letter of recommendation from my counselor, and he gave me an idea of what he will write and it’s golden.

Basically, I am wondering if anyone out there has appealed to a uc (especially UCSB) and was successful. What did you include in your appeal letter? How long was your letter? Should i include an additional letter of rec thats pretty good, but nothing out of the ordinary?

P.S. I visited the campus and might write about how the school seems like a good fit and has options for what I am interested in (even though I’m applying undecided). Is this a good idea?

Thanks guys.

also, I was wondering what you think my chances are for getting in based on appeal.

thanks.

did you end up getting in with the appeal?

I appealed as well. 27 ACT, 3.95 GPA, 1300+ hours of community service. What I talked about in my appeal letter was how I helped create a charity and set up an event in which approximately 250 showed up. Lets hope our appeals work! They rarely do, so I’m not getting my hopes up. I also talked about how much I would enjoy UCSB because of the different programs/EC things they have there.
