appealing withdrawn admissions

so last year i was admitted to a uc. grades and test scores were pretty average throughout highschool, but i made the mistake of slacking off just a little and recieved a D in one of my senior year english classes. i found out late and didnt have time to retake the course and the teacher gave me no pity. the uc campus mailed me a letter withdrawing my admissions near the end of the summer and i really couldnt do anything. tried to send an appeal telling them my circumstances and even had my high school counselor back me up with a letter too, but they stood by their decision. i had to take the fall semester off because it was too late to go to any other school,or even any community colleges. i took a small load of classes in the spring at a community college and am taking a good number of classes for summer school. i was wondering if there would be any chance if i tried to apply to the same college, if they'd accept me early instead of doing the whole 2 year community college thing and transfering after. or maybe if i tried to write a letter to them.. what do you think i should say in the letter? my grades at the community college are still pretty average, like my high school grades.

do i have any chance?

Maybe I am not understanding -- hasn't the application period for the UC 2007-2008 school year already passed? So you would have to apply as a transfer student for the 2008-2009 school year -- correct? And so wouldn't you have already done 2 years in community college?

The UCs have a hard and fast rule about GPAs. Unfortunately, you got a D. They were well within their rights to withdraw you. I doubt that they would take you earlier than two years of community college UNLESS your GPA is stellar.
