Appealing

So I got my rejection letter today and it sucks. I really thought I deserved to get not only because I had good stats but because my dad went there and I know how much they value the "Trojan family" legacy.

In my rejection letter, it says "However, because you are a member of the Trojan Family, we have set aside the final weeks in June, (the 12th-30th), for you to meet with a member of the Admission staff. Our aim is to counsel you subsequent to your high school graduation and help you establish personalized transer plan. Such a plan may assist you in gaining admission to USC as a transfer within the next two or three semesters."

Do you think it would be stupid to pursue what they suggested in the letter. I'm really not in the mood to pursue another disappointment. It just feels like 4 years of hard work and weekends at home studying was all a waste of time. Can I appeal and try to set up something with an admissions officer relating to transfering at the same time? If I do appeal, is the only important thing you can include new awards, recognitions, etc?

I have heard of this kind of thing for "borderline" people and from what I understand if you follow the path set by the school and make the target grades, you're pretty much in. But it does mean following what they say to the letter. I knew one person who had to go to community college for only one semester and got in NYU because he aced all his classes in community college. It showed them that you mean business about your passion to get into the school.

lady, what are your stats?

can you let me know what the ltter says about appealing? where to send it. how many letters of rec, how long the letter can be?

I got the same thing.....

If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please call (213)740-9484 to schedule an appointment"

Does this mean that I shouldn't commit to any school by may 1st?? I guess I should call...

best of luck to all of you still waiting

well if i do plan on transfering I would go to UCSD for the first few semesters. Is that a stupid idea cause I'm sure it's harder to get A's there then at community college??? HELP! I need to commit to a school by may 1

go to CC if you know you're in already. it'll probably save you some money too.. get you better grades, etc. what are you stats?

Anyone have any tips concerning the sorts of things that should be included in an appeals letter or what kind of stuff they are looking for? My stats were pretty good so I am pretty sure that isn't the reason I got rejected. Any advice you have would be a huge help!
