I'm just curious .. did any of you write the scholarship essay?

Mk, I did. Why?

I had my app in on October 1st and had a decision made on October 8th.

I am trying to figure out how they sort the applications .. and I have a theory going on that if you wrote the scholarship essay you're at the top of the list because they start awarding scholarships on November 1st and you would have to be admitted by then.

I think they either do it by what major you declared or that.

I'm just stressing because I applied really early and haven't heard anything back yet and I didn't write the essay and declared an Engineering major.

My sister declared an engineering major also last year and she didn't find out until late either so I dont know.

Do you guys think I am safe .. 3.5 GPA 27 ACT, taken 2 AP classes currently, family legacy, but my extracurricular section was really weak. Basically my job and a couple other small things.

I wouldn't say your safe, but chances are well.

^^^I agree with coolbrezze, I think you have a good chance of getting in as your GPA is average but ACT is above average. Mklink, this is the 1st year I think that they added an optional scholarship essay section so I have no idea about your theory, but I don't think the order that applications are read have anything to do with major. But there are lots of scholarships that the university awards that don't require the scholarship essay as well.

Thank you all for easing my impatience. My daughter's acceptance finally came today, exactly one week from the decision date. She has a 3.4. 27 ACT excellent ECs and essays. She could be a Spartan next year!

yea .. fa-la .. you're probably right. The only reason I say that is because it would seem like they would have to contact, for example, the Engineering College if you declared an engineering major. I am just trying to make sense of how the sort them.

It's that time of the year were its really stressful as you notice others around you getting their acceptance letters and yours is still yet to come lol.

Woohooo!! I got my acceptance letter 4 days ago!!!! (28 ACT, 3.8 GPA)
