Appliances for dorms

Hi,

Are we suppose to talk only with our roommates about microwaves and stuff? Or do we talk with everyone in our suite? Thankies! =D

I guess it depends on how nice your other suite mates are. So far, I got a roomie to bring a small fridge for our room alone.

i would say microwave is one per suite - why would you want one per room?

Yeah, the problem is, who would foot the bill?

In Muir 2 microwaves on each every floor. 1 microwave for every 2 suites (so the 2 suites share).
--As in fridges, bring one for you own room and not your suite. It will not be big enough for the WHOLE suite.

if i were to bring a i sorta big LCD tv....you think it would get stolen? Are things stolen alot over there?

^Depends. Where you planning to keep it?

okay, I must be in a really rich suite cause my suitemates wants to buy a $500+ flat screen tv - we each contribute $50+. I originally thought the tv would be for movie nights, but if we're dishing out 500 bucks, wouldn't it make sense to get cable as well? but.. how much would that cost per month?
am I the only one who thinks this is a luxury we don't really need? I don't even have flat screen at home. gee.

basic cable is provided by ucsd housing.

really? oh.. well, that's good to know.
but, I still think it's such a luxury and a waste of money.

You're lucky you have rich roomies!

well.. I still have to pay for part of it, which I really don't want to :(

maybe if you tell them you won't watch the TV they'll be okay with you not paying for it? I watch a considerable amount of TV at home but my first year I think I watched two movies on the TV maximum, and no TV shows...my suite had a pretty nice TV too. There's just so many other things you could be doing! :)

Yeah TV is for losers. Internet is better.

well i think a problem would be that after the year is up who would get the tv afterwards....same with the fridge... so you guys might want to plan that out too before you decide on getting anything

does UCSD rent out fridges or do you have to buy one?

you have to buy one.
