Applicants Of 2011!

@ salmon: how can you start them now … don’t they change pretty often (not necessarily the essay prompts, but…)

i mean they haven’t even sent you the '11 app yet, right? :S

ya… I was trying to go with the literal meaning of ASAP- as soon as possible :l it makes sense that way! :D

Tuesdays
Which city did you stay in?

Hey I’m just wondering when most schools put their new app form online. July? June? Or september???

I’m a super procastinator so…we all need to start early!!!
(do they change the essay topics?)

ChoateChoateChoateChoateChoateChoateChoateChoateChoateChoate

Applicants of 2011, apply to Choate! Dooooo it :D

Well look at it this way , we are all ahead of schedule because the applications haven’t even come out yet! lol

Well the second the new apps come out, I am applying xD how many schools are you guys applying to ?

@gonnastop I stayed in Beijing. :)

I actually have no idea how many schools i am applying 2 yet! i am still looking for schools and then i am going to narrow it down from there… hopefully! how about you?

Currently I’m planing on applying to 10 schools, but I know I’ll end up whittling it down and just outright forgetting to apply to a few. I’d still like to keep the number up though because I need almost full aid.

Hi y’all experts in the BS app process! I have created a new thread “Prep for Prep.” I would appreciate if you can post your insights and expert advice on the “Prep for Prep” thread. Thank you.

I am planning on applyin to around 10, I already made my list but I am gonna end up taking a few off…

i have a couple things to say:
my brother is an applicant of 2011…thats a weird thought. im a college applicant of 2011. time goes by quickly.

@swissbrit apply to middlesex!!

@boardingschool - middlesex has between 4 and 7 new juniors every year, not 2. this year we have 6. they let in about 15 kids for the spots. even though it is harder to get in as a new junior, its not like your chances are 2/70 as stated. (i have no clue if more or less than 70 apply)

LOL… Middlesex is on my list  would you advise me to do a repeat 9th grade or go for 10th grade ?

swissbrit that can be a tricky choice because the main enrollment in most school is in grade 9 so you will be having to compete against other grade 9 students for admission and there are alot more applying in grade 9 than in grade 10 and it also may or may not put you at a disadvantage because you are repeating a year im not quite sure, but also if you applying for grade 10 there are lesser spots available but also lewer students applying for those spots so im not exactly sure on what grade you should applying for but i would say apply for grade 9 repeat or for both, i am applying for both grades right now for late applications

a lot of kids repeat a grade, so its not like youd be the only kids repeating. of course, freshman year is easier than sophomore year so your grades as an incoming student might be better as a freshman. also, as a sophomore, it is harder socially just because people in your grade already have good friendships with each other. however, its not actually that much more difficult to make friends as a new sophomore.

not repeating means you have a year less of high school. this could be a good or a bad thing.

maybe ask the admissions office if they think you should? is there a reason that you are considering repeating?

Well I think I might apply as a repeat because for one, I don’t mind doing 1 more year of High School and also to what I hear, if you are applying as a repeat generally you are looked as more mature and intellectually ready but the reason that I am considering repeating is that well I have moved around a lot and I am ALWAYS the new kid so I am kind of sick and tired of it so I would prefer to do the 9th grade again and not be the only new kid LOL .

@peab2011: This is an email I got from Middlesex. You can call Mr. Bailey and ask. All my data are from admisson offices, I’m not making it up
Dear …,

Thank you for your note. Please understand that this was our most
competitive year to date in terms of admissions and you have applied to
the most difficult pool to be admitted. This year we received over over 70
applications for 11th grade and we only accepted two students.

I trust this information is helpful.

Best,

wow 2 spots for 70 students thats harsh

I think this year i’ll actually spend time on my essays and not do them last second- literally

Last year I agonized over them so much. This year I started them the night of the deadline.

o_o?

Btw, CONGRATS ON REACHING PAST 5 PAGES! NOW THIS THREAD WILL HAVE ELLIPSES AFTER THE PAGE NUMBERS, GIVING THE IMAGE OF LONGNESS AND COOLNESS!
