Applicants who haven't been admitted invited to SDSU Merit Scholarship Reception?

Are there any other applicants who haven’t been admitted but still invited to this month’s Merit Scholarship Reception? D just got the formal invitation . I believe it’s normally reserved for applicants who are in the local service area and were given early acceptances. Since D is a Nursing major she has not been admitted. I read that acceptances for Nursing applicants go out end of Feb.

At any rate when we checked with the school about this reception they let us know that parts of it will be specific for admitted students only and as such some of it will not apply to us. Anyone familiar with this reception and what it might mean for a Nursing applicant?

Obviously it’s probably a small sampling of applicants who are both local and Nursing applicants. So the lack of response isn’t surprising. I will report back my impression of the reception which I believe includes a campus tour.
It will be held the last weekend of the month.

My D attended the reception. Today she received notice she has received the merit scholarship worth $7500 annually. She has yet to be admitted but hopefully will find out soon.
