I thought I knew everything, but I have learned that University of Maryland (College Park) waives the $65 application fee for NMSFs (and some other Maryland-specific scholar program finalists). My D actually applied (and paid) without knowing this, and they refunded the $65 automatically!

Are there any other schools that waive the application fee for NMSF?

I apologize if this does not exactly match the title of this forum (it's not a "scholarship" issue)

My daughter always asks and a lot of colleges will waive the fee.

The University of Central Florida will waive the fee. If you look on the website, they have a person who specifically works with NMSFs. The application process is simple (no essays or recs), and the decision will be made very quickly once other materials are received. It only cost us a score report, and very little time to apply. That application experience has been amazing. I believe that the Florida schools are tied together, with a score report that we sent to another state University showing up on the UCF webiste. Had we known that, it would not have cost us anything. Their NMF package is amazing.

Oh, good to know. I think we paid the UMD fee. How do they know you are a semifinalist? I have to check anyway to find out why they don’t show son’s recommendation letters but not transcript (they were supposed to be in the same envelope). We did get a waiver for UMBC but I think it was for being nominated for the Meyerhoff Scholarship.
