Application Finally Updated

Jayjohnson, you got in with a 23 ACT and a 3.3 gpa, and you're not a minority? And no medical issues? I'm shocked. If I had anything higher than these scores and was wait listed I'd be having a fit.

Todd, I'm glad your father called. Don't be mad at him. Sometimes we feel we have to intervene. ;-) Good luck.

Friend was waitlisted with a 3.0 and a 1100.

Sounds like me :P

Boston, you were one of the people I was thinking of when I wrote that. Even though it was last year that you were wait listed, you might want to call them on it. Maybe it was a mistake.

I'm sort of having a fit...I have a 3.6 weighted gpa, and a 23 act

I doubt it was a mistake. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing, but I'm considering throwing a transfer app. to IU. Any idea when 2nd semester deadline is? (I'm sure I missed it though...)

Todd, unweighted gpa. They don't look at weighted. What's you're unweighted?

3.5 unweighted

Boston, I don't think too many people here have information on transfers, which is why you didn't get any good answers to your other question. I just found this page by doing a search on their website. You might want to see what it says:

Transfer Students: Office of Admissions: IU Bloomington

Todd, the 23 ACT score is on the low side, but with a 3.5 gpa, you should be in since others got in with less.

you ar edeferred but I would not give up yet. Update all your info, volunteer some more, your new SATs or ACTs etc..
Good luck

I could probably transfer 8 or 12 credits. The problem is, I'm not sure my GPA is good enough to get me in.

So call them and ask.

"The problem is, I'm not sure my GPA is good enough to get me in."

The information is all spelled out on the site I linked you to. Just click on Admission Standards.

I saw. Thanks.

Iam not too familiar with the ACT,but isn't a 23 equal to about a 1000 on the SAT? What is their average SAT and ACT scores?

I don't know about the ACT, but this year's class had an average SAT of
1146. I believe the average GPA is 3.5, but could be wrong on that.

From Indiana University at Bloomington's Common Data Set 2006-07, which can be found here:

Average high school GPA of all degree-seeking, first-time, first-year

Percent of total first-time, first-year (freshman) students who
submitted high school GPA: 93.32%

Last year's class (2006-2007) had an average SAT CR+M total of 551/570 = 1121. (as shown on the Common Data Set listed above).
The school already announced that this year's class (2007-2008) average SAT CR+M total is 1146, meaning that their average high school GPA is probably slightly higher than what is listed above.

Just to add, my son was told that for anyone below a 3.3 average GPA they are expecting the SAT/ACT score to be higher than the average, as my son happened to fall in this category and his SAT was much higher whereas his GPA is around a 3.3. Also was told they are considering the writing this year, anyone know if this is true?
