Application problems

I have been checking the status of my application quite a bit lately, and Smith's website shows that my common app supplement is still missing. The common app website shows that it was downloaded on 30 January, so I sent an email to Smith asking if I should try to resend the supplement and also reminding them of what the common app site showed. This was Smith's response:
We have received thousands of credentials; if the website says we have received your supplement, you do not need to resend it. Please continue to check online for updates and if you have any more questions, please call or write the office of admission. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

So my question are these: Should I call them immediately or wait a few days to see if something shows up? How do I resend the common app supplement? Thanks.

{{Should I call them immediately }}

Yes. An admission officer can instantly open your online file and see the status of your app. Better to be safe than sorry. Do you have a hard copy of your app?

I finally got my BannerWeb account from Smith today, and I was surprised to see that they had yet to receive my 2nd teacher rec and mid-year report. The teacher rec was mailed out in mid November, I called the office, and they said to mail it again. I asked about the mid-year report, sent app. a month ago, and they said that it most likely hasn't been sorted yet, since they have thousands of pieces of mail and applications to sort, etc....

I would call them soon to see what they say... I'm not sure how you would resend the app, I mailed mine.

Everyone take a deep breath. This is common for the web site to state that not all material have been received. By all means call admissions if you feel the need to, and keep checking back with bannerweb. Same thing happened with my D, and she applied ED II. These papers go through many hands in the adm. office, and not all are placed in folders in a timely manner. :(

Admission office foul ups seem to be pretty common. I have to talk about this one. My D last mid-march received letter from Smith saying she was admitted with a merit scholarship, and they were giving the news early because so special, ect. ect. Then come formal notification day, and on the web site they said she was "waitlisted." And then a waitlist letter arrived on Monday. A very stressful situation, but they DID fix it pretty quickly when we called. I don't think it is pushing to much to call when things on the banner web differ from what seems to be reality

Footnote to BJM's post: in my experience, documents appear to make it to the physical folder fairly quickly. For some inexplicable reason--it's certainly not how I would design a system--there is often a lag between when a document is placed in the folder and when it is logged into Bannerweb. I infer that that there must be a check list showing docs received and docs logged onto the computer and that periodically someone must go through the files and bring the logging up to date. If the system is something like that, it's also easy to imagine a document being overlooked, accidentally marked as "logged" when it is not.
