Application question and majors

S is getting ready to apply and I’ve heard major declaration is important in add’l scholarships. He is interested in psychology and visual journalism, possibly dual major- but not sure whether he would do both or major/minor. He would start with 20-24 credits I believe. Journalism offers a lot of departmental scholarships. I couldn’t find any for Psych. Psych is more his probable major I think. So what does he list? Does it leave space for both majors, or do you have to pick a major and minor. I think departmental scholarships require major, right?
Thanks
ps- I’m very excited for y’all getting ready to move in

You can only choose on major on your application and departmental scholarships are based on this major. When deciding which major to declare, you must also think about which college should be his official base for advising and such. For example, a finance and math major could either be in the College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Commerce and Business Administration.

ldinct: Make sure that your son also looks for outside scholarships, particularly in journalism. I know it is very competitive to land one, but they are out there.

You can only list one major on your app, so if you plan on double majoring, list the one that will give additional scholarships.
