I recently applied for Texas A&M for what I thought was the main campus at College Station. I looked online and it says I’ve been accepted to Engineering at Galveston. I’m really confused if this is because I applied for the wrong campus or if I’ll still be accepted to the main campus just later. If you know I’d really like to understand what’s going on.
Congratulations on being admitted to Engineering at Galveston. You did apply to the college station campus, but they have admitted you to the program to complete your first year in Galveston.
This program allows more students the opportunity for admission to engineering and addresses space limitations in College Station. If you accept your admissions to Galveston, just like students on the Texas A&M College Station campus, you will be advised by general engineering advisors and follow the first year engineering curriculum. You can seek entry into an engineering major during the second semester of freshman year (same is engineering students on CS campus) Here is a link about the Galveston program. What the link doesn’t tell you is that after you are admitted to your major (after your first year in GV) you will then automatically attend CS campus complete you major at College Station.
Here is a link about the program. Make sure to explore the links to the right. You need to apply to housing by March 1 and you must live on campus. Off campus takes special permission and strict qualifications.

So does this mean theres no chance for me to attend my first year at College Station?
@scottydeason Yes.
That said, there will be many students in GV completing their first year in engineering in addition to all of the other GV students of all ages, seeking other degrees.
Galveston is the only campus that is part of A&M. The others are affliated campuses.
I know you must be disappointed, many are when they find out they were not accepted to CStat campus but know that it is still a prestegious admissions and you are still an Aggie! The first year will fly! A good friend of mine’s son didn’t get Cstat either. He was bummed but went to GV anyway. Withing the first few weeks, he got involved and has decided he is going marine engineering. He LOVES it down there. He will still get an Aggie Ring and Aggie Diploma. Don’t discount it just becuase it is not CStat. Do give it the consideration it deserves. It is a big decision. Good Luck
Sea Aggie - nice!
You will have fun going to school in Galveston; you may not want transfer. You won’t just be a number there. Good prospects with marine and logistics companies.
You will get the ring, same as College Station.
