That wraps up the highlights of my applications! Also, what are some other colleges I should take a look at? Again, I'm looking for good undergraduate pre-med programs & science majors. I'm looking to stay in CT, NYC area, NJ, RI, and MA. Thanks in advance!

Chance me and I’ll chance back! :)

I say your into all of them, but Fordham is a high match.

i agree with copticbishoy. Fordham is very tough and selective but you look pretty good everywhere else. Stay confident and youll probably get in. :)

Hofstra has had a history of loving well rounded students. They just don’t like the people that just do one thing. I say your safety here would hofstra. I don’t know much about the other colleges.

I don’t know if you’d want to but maybe the ACT would be a better fit for your science-mind.
Conn: match
Ri: low match
Stony Brook: match
Hofstra: low match
Fordham: high match

Thank you all for the swift replies and your valued opinions! And yes, my safeties are Hofstra and URI, with Fordham being my reach.

Is it worth taking a look at other schools in the area? Like…

Quinnipiac University
Adelphi University
Hunter College
Iona College
St. John’s University

…or are the schools I applied to a better match (being admitted/quality of education wise)? I also looked into Rutgers (New Brunswick) and went on a tour but I didn’t like the layout of the school at all. Overall, Rutgers is very nice and friendly, though! (Me being from out of state and all! :D)

Thanks again!

I too applied to all my colleges as a bio major even though i have pre-med in mind, i just don’t want to be restricted to medicine alone.
my school is literally RIGHT next to Hofstra, I applied there and did instant decision at my school, I got in with 13,000 in scholarship $$. My GPA is about the same as yours, my SAT score is higher (1280 M & CR).
Stony Brook’s score range is about 1250 but i’m sure your GPA and extracurriculars will compensate (I applied there too)
Fordham was also unattractive to me b/c of the money, so i didn’t apply, but i think you could get in or maybe waitlisted.
The rest of the schools I’m unfamiliar with, you could probably tell since i go to a school close to Hofstra; I’m a NY resident I only applied to NYS schools (for money reasons)
Goodluck anyway.

@purplehouse Thank you very much for sharing your application experience! Congrats on your scholarship dough! May I ask what school you’re going to? How is the Biology?? And the Fordham thing… the expense is the killer for me too. It would be extremely convenient since it’s on the MetroNorth New Haven line also. I guess things come with a price! But even comparing a SUNY school to a private school in NYC/CT, it’s still more economical even though I’m out-of-state haha…

Matches with all expect for Fordham which is a reach. Good luck.

@OP; thanks! I realize now my post makes it seem like i’m in college already lol…
I’m still a HS senior, my school just happens to be in the same town as Hofstra. I have applied to Stony Brook, Binghamton, Suny Albany, Adeplhi, Hofstra and George Mason(my only out-of-state school). I’m really hoping to get into Stony Brook because its well known for its science program (the in-state tuition helps a great deal too haha).
Fordham is a pretty good school, if there is any way you can afford it, i’d say go for it!

Conneticut: Low match
Rhode Island: match
StonyBrook: match
Hofstra: match
Fordham: high match

@purplehouse Good luck with Stony Brook! SB seems to be a hot school for the sciences in the Tri state area. You being a NY resident gives you that upper edge too, just like UConn is for me. I have a feeling it’s going to be down to UConn, Stony Brook or Hofstra in my situation. I predict you will be able to choose where you would like to go, as well :). Let me know how it turns out for you!

Hey!
Yeah you should be good for all of them, with Fordham being a reachish school, but you seem to know that. I would recommend maybe the ACT if you want, but other wise (since you are going into a science field) that math score is great.
Best of luck!:)
