Hi I'm a current freshman looking to major in Applied math. Is it honestly marketable? I've heard from many previous majors that it is not...thought anyone?

It’s not really marketable, but you can go into consulting, investment banking, or better yet, become an actuary. One of my friends got his bachelors in Math at MIT and his PhD at Stanford and is now studying for his actuary exams. There’s a bunch (maybe 6?) he has to take so the process is long and arduous. But, there’s good QOL and decent pay.

The better strategy is to double major in math and economics. It opens up more jobs in business.

Or more specifically https://career.berkeley.edu/Major/AppMath.stm . Looks like mostly finance and actuarial jobs (some economics and statistics courses would help, of course), with some CS jobs.
