Hey, I am posting this for a friend. He has a 33 composite on his ACT and plans to apply to Michigan. He plans to take it again in October and he is almost positive he will do better (claims he didn't study the first tiime and plans to prep this time).

Anyways my point is, woiuld it be better to apply early with his current ACT score and apply later assuming he would get a higher ACT? Also, is it easy to then update admissions with his new score if he applies early?

Thats a very solid score. Have him apply now and if he is really that worried about it put the future test date on the application and send it in later. If he gets in quickly, great, and if he doesnt then a higher score will help him in a defferal situation.

I thought Umich didn't defer? They just keep your application longer if they think you have a choice. I guess is there any harm in applying now a submitting a higher score later?

And then should he indicate on his application that he's planning to take the test again or just take it and submit the score if he does well?
