Apply to CAS, then Transer to Stern? (with ED)

Hey guys!

Im really set on NYU, and studying business. I have the opportunity to apply Early Decision, and would be thrilled to attend NYU.
But I'm not sure if I can make it into Stern with ED.

IB Diploma Program 11th, 12th grade
All honors courses 9th, 10th grade
(5 years math, 5 years science, 4 years english, 4 years history, 4 years art)
*Packed schedule with rigorous courses each year
GPA: 3.6
SAT: 700 reading, 670 math, 680 writing
(will take again in November, estimating above 700 on math)

Class Treasurer
Debate Club
Mock Trial

School News Paper

Campaign Volunteer
Regional Debate Coordinator

Retail/Real estate work experience

Ski Team Varsity
Golf Team Varsity
Tennis Team
Volleyball club

Basically, I would love to go to Stern, but I'm not sure if I can get in, even with ED. I'm pretty decent at Math and Science, but last year I didn't do any homework, and ended up with C+'s in them (argh, i know...) I doubt a business school would look favorably on that. My strong points are History and Art, getting all A's in them for as long as I can remember.

Also, I really tanked my junior year, badly. But I am doing fantastic this year as a senior. Should I just apply regular so colleges can see great grades for the semester, or apply early, when only 1 quarter is finished?

I figure I can easily get into CAS as an economics/political science student, but would have a difficult time getting into Stern as business student.
I'm wondering if I can get into CAS, take some courses there for a year, then transfer into Stern for business. I heard this is called "backdooring". Anyone have any feedback?

Thanks!!

I think the junior year is important. Senior year less so. So it was a bad year to tank. You have a shot. *Packed schedule with rigorous courses each year. How does 4 years of Art fit into that rigor?

speak to a guidance counselor or admissions rep, internal transfers, especially from CAS to Stern (or any other school to Stern) are extremely difficult.

If you tanked your junior year, you won't even get into CAS.

Remeber you have to wait 1 year before applying to stern and NYU will not consider applicants who went to another nyu school for that purpose,

I presume it means wait for 1 year after cas.

I think working on the essay is better and maybe scaling back some of the large laundry lists or accomplishemnets, the admissions office might get overburdended and just think ur just like everyone else,

Have to research that.

If what they mean is try the wont consider your high school grades/accomplishments if you do a NYU transfer cas to stern maybe.
Not sure if sats will factor in. Stern is very competitive, they want to make it flagship and seperate insitution kinda like theri law school I presume.

You should realize that your chances of getting into Stern through the backdoor is pretty minimal, so if you're really set on studying business and specializing in it (ie, actually learning about finance or accounting or whatever), it's probably better for you to get into another undergrad business school and just go there. If you're just set on going INTO business after undergrad, then apply to CAS by all means. If you get in, and find you can't into Stern later on, majoring in econ at CAS still opens a lot of doors.
