Apply to College of Engineering or LSA?

As a high school junior who wants to study electrical engineering at U of M, I'm not sure whether I should apply to the College of Engineering (which is supposedly harder to get into), or the LSA.

If I apply to the LSA, will transferring be relatively painless? Will my chances of acceptance be higher if I already got accepted to the university's LSA? When would the transfer have to happen?

Also, I see major differences in the AP credit granted by the LSA and the CoE. LSA gives credit for many of the courses I've already taken (Micro, Eng. Lang., Psych, Env. Sci., US History, Calc, US Gov., Stats), while the College of Engineering seems to only consider Physics, Chemistry, Calc, and CompSci. I have only taken Calc so far.

Are all the AP classes I've already taken basically worthless to the CoE? Would they have some value to the LSA? What if I transfer? I need some guidance.

Did you carefully read the AP Guidelines < [Office of Undergraduate Admissions: AP Guidelines](<a href=“AP, IB Credit | University of Michigan Office of Undergraduate Admissions”>AP, IB Credit | University of Michigan Office of Undergraduate Admissions) >

If you are interested in studying electrical engineering, I would apply to COE. Transferring between units is definitely doable. It is easier to transfer from COE to LSA than from LSA to COE.

I never noticed that. That’s really pleasing information. I really found it hard to believe that the College of Engineering accords no value to so many AP courses, English especially. Thanks a lot for pointing that out to me.
