hey guys! i’m not a transfer as of yet but would appreciate if some of you would shed some light on me ;] i just got rejected from Cornell (i’m a high school senior) and am considering to transfer to Cornell for my sophomore year as a bio major at CALS. would i be considered applying as a fall transfer or spring? and second, what courses should I take at Rochester (where i’ll be studying for my first year). once again, i’m a prospective pre-med majoring in bio, would appreciate any help, thanks!

So I’ve gotten into Geneseo, Bing, and Stony Brook, but NOTHING compares to Cornell! I seriously have dreams about Cornell…how sad lol!

Anyways, I’m sending my mid-term report in this Wednesday or Thursday, am I super late? I applied to ILR btw.

why are you sending it this late? i thought at least 1 midterm is administered before april.

Well my school’s semester actually started the last week of Jan and then we had a week off in Feb so the mid point was this past week. I had a few teachers fill out the form but some of my classes only meet once a week so I’m doing the rest this week.

I hope they will update the website next week. Please don’t lost my high school transcript.

sarzilla, i’m sure you saw that i said this for melon, but DOO NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT GO TO STONY BROOK. that is all

Sarzilla, When I talked to Ian Schachner, one of the admissions people, he said that they do not review ANY of the applications until every student has turned in his/her midterm report. So, I don’t think it’s too late, but it will cause a delay to people like me, who also applied to ILR. It’s all good though.

so everyone else’s application can be held up if one person doesn’t turn in their information? that doesn’t make sense to me. what if someone just never turns in their reports? at what point do they stop waiting and move on? i can understand they can’t review the late person’s application, but not how they would refuse to review any of the submitted, complete, applications.

Ditto that ^

Hmm I highly doubt that the decisions will be delayed because of certain people’s missing report because I talked to an admissions rep when I was doing my phone interview and she actually said it was fine.

ilr doesnt do rolling admission?

ironicallysure, I also got into Stony and Binghamton. I’m still awaiting my replies from NYU and Cornell. If I don’t get into one of those two, I will surely go to Stony. I’m doing pre-med and going into their Neuroscience track program (I have all my pre-med req + almost all of my grad req’s completed). I think Stony has one of the best Neuroscience programs out of all the SUNY schools as well as research opportunities. However, reading your comment and then seeing a few posts, I am starting to get concerned. Please explain a little more why Stony would be a bad choice for me (academically). Thanks.

there’s no way that they wait for everyone’s stuff to be in to start reviewing. that makes 0 sense.

kho0ni, no one knows what stony brook is outside of NY. i use myself as the perfect example of this, because when i got to cornell, anytime a non-NYer (even people from NJ/CT!) asked me where i transferred from it went like this:

them: so, where did you transfer from?
me: stony brook
them: where is that?
me: long island
them: oh, that’s a community college, right?

so even though everyone who goes to stony will tell you that they’re the cat’s meow and all that crap, in reality, no one has heard of the effing place. and even NY residents kind of gave me “oh, that was my safety” or “oh. i know X person who goes there” response. there are hardly any stony alumni who are proud of having come from stony and i myself pretend that that part of my life never happened. being “one of the best in X out of the SUNYs” means nothing unless you plan on staying in NY. that’s like saying you have the best special olympics team (don’t mean to offend anyone, just using it as an example). SUNYs are not, though NYers tend to rave about them, as good as people think. they barely make the cut for the top 100 and again, no one outside of NY has heard of them. they’re no berkeley or chapel hill, not even close. and having gone from sb to here, there is a tremendous difference in the quality of the education i’m receiving and in the student body.

oh, and another thing: EVERYONE at stony is pre-med, yet their med school acceptance rate is dismal. it truly is pathetic. and their 4-year graduation rate is just under 40%. PATHETIC. sorry, i REALLY hate sb. but all of that is true.

Is there a particular reason why that’s so? Are there gangs and such things in school?

^ who are you asking lol

Stony Brook’s campus is practically West Side Story, there are so many gangs.

^lol i like that comparison.

and i like how i was ignored. thanks cornell thread lmao

^Apocalypse Now, Forrest Gump. Don’t have a singular favorite movie per se.

If you were going to die within the hour, what would be the last thing you’d want to eat?

**** bro, looks like stony scarred you for life!

melonbread91: chicken pad thai w/ chicken panang curry, and for dessert their ghetto chocolate meltdown @ SEA Thai, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. :D

just made me hungry.
