Applying for US universities from England?

Hi, not sure if this is in right area of website.
But I was just wondering if you have any information about applying to US universities from England?
I'm currently finishing my first year at college doing A Levels (aged from 16-18) and would love to know about the application process.
Ive been looking at NYU and Californian universities but am open to a lot- looking to study in English/ writing/ history or art- undecided as to which yet.
I'm a competent student who gets A-A* grades- did in High School and am predicted to in college.

Also I'd love info on how much universities there REALLY cost and how much the cost of living is- halls of residence etc.

The pricing of UK universities has recently trippled to almost £10,000 per year which is why I am now more open to studying abroad for a more expansive education at similar prices.

Any help would be appreciated as I really am coming at this from an outsider's perspective!!

Try posting in the International Students forum where you’ll find many students in your position.

It is very expensive for international students to attend college in the U.S. as it is very difficult for them to receive any financial aid. For most schools you’re looking at more than $10000. NYU is notoriously known for giving awful amounts of aid by the way.
