Hi, not sure if this is in right area of website.
But I was just wondering if you have any information about applying to US universities from England?
I'm currently finishing my first year at college doing A Levels (aged from 16-18) and would love to know about the application process.
Ive been looking at NYU and Californian universities but am open to a lot- looking to study in English/ writing/ history or art- undecided as to which yet.
I'm a competent student who gets A-A* grades- did in High School and am predicted to in college.

Also I'd love info on how much universities there REALLY cost and how much the cost of living is- halls of residence etc.

The pricing of UK universities has recently trippled to almost £10,000 per year which is why I am now more open to studying abroad for a more expansive education at similar prices.

Any help would be appreciated as I really am coming at this from an outsider's perspective!!

Search for that on each college’s site. You should be doing that on your own.

If you’re looking at NYU, then you should remain in the UK.

For NYU’s College of Arts and Science (Undergraduate), fall/spring tuition
Full time students, tuition, 12 to 18 units flat rate, per term = US$19,672.00 = GBP 12,089
[NYU > Office of the Bursar > Tuition/Fees > Fall and Spring > College of Arts and Science (Undergraduate)](Tuition)

And that’s just for one term.

Universities in the US cost anything from $25000-$60000/yr.If you are a tippy top student you may be ableto secure scholarships and financial aid from a few thousand to those that cover the full cost of attendance,ie tuition, room, board and books. As for the application process, you will need to apply the year that you write your final A level exams. You will also need to register and write the SAT test,[College Admissions - SAT - University & College Search Tool](http://www.collegeboard.org).For now, make a list of criteria that meet that criteria(e.g location, major, availability of financial aid+scholarships)You may be interested to explore the liberal arts colleges, such as [Williams College : Williams College](http://www.williams.edu) or [Hamilton College: A national leader in teaching students to write effectively, learn from each other and think for themselves.](http://www.hamilton.edu) amongst many others,of course these are just examples.good luck.
