Applying in December-January to Rolling Admissions Schools-How much did it hurt me?

I applied to Penn State in Mid December. I sent out my Ohio State app yesterday. I am applying in the college of engineering. My stats are average, around a 3.5 UW GPA, 1950 SAT score, good essay and recs.

Both schools use rolling admissions. How much of a disadvantage do I get applying to those schools so late? Especially Ohio State, Mid december is still not bad, but 10th Jan is pretty late I'm guessing. I'm an international student too...so I'm pretty worried right now that I completely messed up and applied way too late to both colleges even though both colleges said the deadline's Feb 1 for internationals.

Will my application timing severely hurt my chances?

Since they give a different date than the regular admissions, I think you have to assume it doesn’t matter as long as you’re in by Feb 1. Maybe someone who has actually been through the process could tell you different but until then, that’s all the information you have to go on.

my opinion is based purely on speculation and speculation of others, but it appears that if you area strong student/ candidate for the school, it is not an issue. And if you do not want merit scholarships, not an issue. If you are a borderline admission prospect, or need merit aid, the earlier you apply the better.

Again, just speculation based on what I have heard and seen. No science to back that up.

The international cutoff is Feb 2. You are international, and I presume you will be a full-pay student because you don’t indicate a need for financial aid. Do not worry about this. If you aren’t admitted it will be because of your grades and exam scores, not because of the date of application.
