Applying late = Instant rejection?

I got in with a 4.0 umich GPA, 2110 SAT score (710 M, 700 CR, 700 W), full IB diploma (toughest courseload possible), average ECs, and OOS for engineering, and I submitted my app on the last possible day

so I my general thinking is that sure you can still get in applying late but it becomes more of a gamble than one would really want

just curious, what would all of you consider "late"?

'Late' for me started after the early response deadline. :P

how much hope for a 2330, 4.0 that applied jan 28th?

you might get in.... but then again you might not.

From the Undergraduate Admissions website:

"There is, however, no advantage for applying during our Early Response time frame other than receiving your decision by a specified date – we will not be awarding additional consideration in the review of an application simply because it was submitted for Early Response."

What makes all of you think that this is untrue?
