Do colleges look badly upon applying very close to the deadline? What if the first part of your application was sent about a month prior and the supplement is the only part submitted on the deadline?

wondering the same thing. i don’t think you look badly upon it, unless it’s over the deadline.

A lot of colleges send out reassuring messages, like “this huge percentage submitted their apps in the final week.” So, I don’t think colleges look down upon it. If they do, gosh, I should have submitted the main ComApp back in October when I finished.

Most schools really don’t care if it’s submitted right before the deadline. The only reason they encourage you to submit early (and it’s a very valid reason) is because you never know when the online system will screw up and shut you out until after the deadline - especially if hundreds or thousands of applicants are trying to submit at the same time.

So if your deadline is January 1 try and submit it today if at all possible.

“Do colleges look badly upon applying very close to the deadline?”

No. Essays should be the best they can be, and that means revision, revision, revision. Schools know this.

I think we are more concerned about colleges thinking that we procrastinate too much =D

Yes, that’s the usual paranoia at this time of year! :)
