<p>Do departments care if you are applying to multiple related departments at the same university?</p>
<p>You’re generally only allowed to apply to one department/program at a university in a given year. At least, that’s how it was for all the departments I applied to a few years ago.</p>
<p>There are a few schools I am applying to that say its ok, I just have to pay the application fee for both departments and submit 2 apps.</p>
<p>In that case I doubt the other departments would know you’re applying to other ones as long as they’re two separate applications. Grad school stuff is handled by the department itself and not by the school/college/university. The only way they might find out about you applying to both is if one of the professors is on both admissions committees.</p>
