Applying to Prep School!!!

I really think browninfall hit the nail on the head. The interview is crucial. A good interview keeps you in the running, a bad one gets you weeded out, a great one and you go to the top of the pack. Of course, that assumes the grades and recs are where they should be. From there you have to be one of the many pieces of the puzzle that make up that years class. Actually, after you get past the interviewer, everyone who makes it that far are on equal footing. That is where the hook comes in, what can you offer this class that no one else can and school feels is needed?

Is anyone going to review the www.college-prep.org school for me or what?

hhhhhhhmmmmmm. maybe

it's either ya do it or ya don't. and since everyone here only cares about prep schools on the east cost, fine!

It's just that college-prep seems like kind of a new school- one that hasn't really established a reputation on the West Coast (not to mention the rest of the country). Maybe it's a good school- I have no idea. Have you visited?

I think I drank too much coffee today.

I hate coffee. just keep me away from the coffee ice cream please. I like my body weight

that was so random.

It's 45 years old. Is that considered young or something?

There is a thread on the parents forum where folks are giving characterisrics of the perfect high school. What it boils down to idsthat they are describing the schools I saw last week. Small numbers of students but with every thing a huge school would offer. Everything for the very brightest of students. A full range of sports and arts. And then some. I envy the parent's of the day students, but I'm convinced these are schools most people don't even think exist.

Does anyone know anything about Lake Forest, reasonably small school just outside of Chicago?

Lake Forest College? I think I've heard of it. That College Preparatory School seems weird and as stated above "a little young." I geuss you've gotta start somewhere, but I would probably never apply to that school.

I wonder why some schools don't allow you to check your decision online and some do (Lawrenceville, St. Paul's,etc.). What do you think? Isn't that violating the TSAO rules?

esa, imho, alot of competition to land students in the prep schools. maybe they think they get a jump on the other schools. as per the ten schools, it is not allowed. I think last year we were able to get a decision from choate by computer.

Also, some prep schools are still updating their network systems. I know when I applied, there was only a paper application- no online app...

Which of TSAO schools do not post admission decisions on-line?

Well,
It all depends where you end up. Most prepschools have a class and sitdown dinner dress code to follow. Generally, bring the basics that'll get you to survive at first. As the year carries on, you'll see what else you'll need by the vibe of the community and general necessities. fashion?...Since you won't have a car, you'll be ordering from catalogues and online a lot. Better to buy timeless and durable than cheap and trendy. Get stuff that can last you all 4 years and even throughout college for that matter. Whatever EC gear or equipment , ofcourse, should be brought. Pictures from home, posters, stereo, computer, sandals/mocs, mp3 player/walkman, etc... Good luck!

Good question fantom! I'm wondering too.

hey, everyone where are all ya'll applying. i can see ive come in a little late on the convo, but im too lazy to read. i applied to groton, choate, deerfield, hotchkiss, lawrenceville, and the hill. i really want to go to lawrenceville and im soooo anxious, we find out in like a week 9!!!!
