Applying to Prep School!!!

***which, haha wow sorry i cant type

I've nothing to do- so what, if I am accepted, shoud I bring to school?

Do you prep school veterans suggest a personal computer? Desktop, or laptop? How much space do you have- will they tell me when assign a room, so I'll know?

9 days. Arg...

I'm wondering the same thing. My mom doesn't want to buy a laptop, but I was thinking portable + late night use unless the computer labs are open 24/7 at Andover, Exeter, and St. Paul's.

The library at both schools closes at sign-in, but the computer labs are open early (like 6). Most kids have their own computers.

Exeter's internet also shuts off at 11.

o_o Dang you guys are really smart. Everyone's percentile is like over 80's. ><; I feel stupid. Mine is like very very very lowwww pencentiles. How do you guys get so good at taking SSAT anyway? o.o I always seem to fail those standardized tests.

What schools are you applying to? Some people are good at taking standardized test and some aren't. It seems as most on CC are.

Once you know where you are going, what to bring becomes much easier. After all, you have a place to call home now for the next few years. Moreover, you can call the school and find out. Each school has its own rules and norms, and you have several months to prep for it after your acceptance(and even visit the school a second time as an enrolled student to ask these questions to other students)so don't sweat this stuff yet.

An update for everyone who's considering Andover:

Today we had an AMAZING All-School Meeting. Our school president (who is the most hilarious guy ever) emcee'd a faculty student talent show. After congratulating the boys hockey team and making some announcements like:

-A plan to go need-blind admissions in the next 5 years
-Renovation of Commons
-Renovation of the Bell Tower, which will ring at the start of classes every morning
-Online sign-in at night (well, * I * thought that was cool)

We had the student improv troupe, dance group, a capella choir, and finally, the Headmistress herself do a song and dance routine to "Going to the Chapel!"

Anyways, I know some people might consider Andover, a larger school, a little too intimidating and disconnected for high schoolers but after this All-SChool, I've never felt closer to my peers.

wow...you go to andover too? that was a great ASM...hehe.

The high school I go to has 2,000 people and I don't find it too big. On the other hand, some people find a school with 1,000 people far too large. Funny world...

By the way, I heard Exeter posts their decisions online. Where exactly online though?
Will they be posted in the "Application Materials" section? If so, I don't really know where they'd post the decision on that page. I can just imagine covering my monitor with a piece of paper and then slowly moving it to the right, waiting to see the letters "A" or "R" come up (for accepted, rejected). Hopefully, the "A" will come up!

i came in late too lawrencville. i actually found last years thread around nov, but me, being stupid, never figured out how to come to the new forum.

hahaha yeah we're cool. i just figured out how you can like search for stuff, but i like our little forum too, i came back like 18 hours after i posted that one above and there are already like 80 million replys

so if ya'll get in where are you most likely going?? it really all depends on my second visit i think...my mom's not very up for this challenge, but im trying to convince her its worth it!! any advice?? i mean, my dads all for it

I'l probably end up going to choate if i get in cause that's where the parents are pushing and i still need some money from them.

I like wannabees too. it's easier to keep up with the times.

do you want to go to choate, because ultimately you should do what you wanna do!! for me personally, it was all my idea, boarding school has been a dream for me for 2 years now. you, living in ca, probably would call my town the middle of no where, but its ok...private, episcopalian all girls school, not very fun

It's a tie between westover and choate. i haven't decided yet because i havent received my letters. The boarding school idea was all mine too. i didnt tell my parents till i had received my application packets!

hahaha, thats hilarious!! i just randomly mentioned it one day, i guess my mom never thought i'd take it this far. so tell me what kind of acting you do? i'm pretty much the main acting girl in my grade at my school, i cant wait for a school like choate where i actually have other experienced actors on stage with me.

mhnnnnn. experienced actors that will actually speak coherantly on stage. gorgeous.

and actors that arent just doing the play to get out of sports, or to have something to do. that seems to usually be the case at my school

What do you actresses/actors think of Julliard?
