I plan on majoring in computer and information sciences which is one of the easiest majors to get accepted on because the low sat score 1540-1700 ( I got a 1550) . I have a 3.0 GPA and I have taken the Java programming junior year and I'm taking AP Computer Science this year along with digital electronics, so I am trying to take classes that relate to my major. I am a Hispanic male (Puerto Rican) and the hispanic rate there is rather low (4%) with white male having a (70%) rate. I have heard a lot of different things that say it is easier to get into college being hispanic. I also have made incredible efforts of improving my grades from freshman to junior year I had like an 79 gpa in freshman year and by junior year picked it up to like an 87, I hope they notice this improvement.

Anyone who got accepted into RIT can they please post thier gpa, sat score/act and major?

Thanks!

I spoke to an admissions officer this summer about my son’s chances of getting into engineering technology. Without seeing his transcript, he told us he was very likely because his ACT was at the 25th percentile (23), and his grade average was 89 (9 in a class of 60 in a small town school). Bear in mind that 25% of those accepted have SAT/ACT scores below the 25th percentile line (and your score is just above the 25th percentle line).

While touring the campus, we met a guy in engineering technology who told us he had SAT scores of about 1000 and a GPA of about 3.0. He was accepted and did very well.

I don’t work in the admissions office, but based on their published numbers, your choice of major, your being Hispanic, your grades being on the rise, and what admissions told us, I would guess that you’ll get in. They’ll see your first semested grades and the courses you’re taking, so better make them good, and take the SAT again. The higher your scores, the better your chance of getting a merit scholarship.

Best of luck …

improvement is always good and you have a lot of other factors that will help you… just work on your essays… good luck! :)
