I am in the process of finalizing my college apps, but added Bowdoin after the deadline to get an on-campus or alumni interview. While doing some research and talking to a family friend who went there, I feel it could be a great fit for me, but is it worthwhile to even apply without the interview? It will be a reach for me anyway I think with a 3.9 GPA and 32 ACT, but I do have strong, meaningful extracurriculars and I believe solid essays.
Not doing an Interview isn’t the end of the world. It may help, but don’t not apply because you didn’t do an interview; merely a small part of their decision
It’s fine. Most colleges recognize that there are financial or distance limitations to be able to interview in the first place and that it is only one small aspect of many things they consider in the application. Still apply anyway.
Source: When I was speaking to admissions officer at the college I currently go to a couple years back about whether I should come back for an interview, they were like no it’s optional and just a way for them to get to know you better. It’s helpful if you can do it, not a detriment. I also work part-time at that admissions office now.
There’s no point in fretting it now, just make sure you write solid essays, get across why you would be a good fit and show your personal side, and do the best you can between now and then.
Thanks for the reassurance. BoboAlumni88, I definitely would do the interview. but they are finished with both on campus and alumni interviews for the fall 2018 applicants.
