Applying

Question for all of you...

I'm filling out my NYU app, and as I'm writing my essays I feel like I'm no better than anyone else, why would they let me in? Granted I'm native american with a 3.8UW gpa, 4.6W in the IB program, and I've volunteered a lot of hours, but I don't feel like my chances are too great and there are a lot more qualified people in the applicant pool. Anyone have any advice?

and does NYU base any of its aid on how much they "want you"?

get an awesome SAT score (2200ish)
and you'll most likely get in.

most of nyu aids are based on how much they "want you", but their "want" is mostly based on strong test scores/gpa.

gl

i felt that exact same feeling when i applied.... but give it your best shot anyway. i got in with a lower gpa than you and NO community service

There really is no advice. If you're at the point where you're filling out the app, it's too late to do much that's going to have any effect. Sure there will be people with better stats in the applicant pool, but it doesn't hurt to apply anyway. Who knows, maybe you'll be accepted. If you want to go to NYU, then apply and see what happens. And no, aid is not based on how much they want you. Except, of course, if you are a 4.0 u/w, 1600 (old scale) SAT, with lots of reasons for them to make you a Scholar (the type with the largest merit $$) but keep in mind, there are very few of those relative to the number of kids admitted.

I feel the same :( but i don't think my gpa is all that impressive nor my class rank. i don't know about my national honor role since i wasn't honored in junior year but im currently a senior, do u think i have a chance???
