Should I make my essay’s relate to my major? If I did not make it related to my major, would it hurt me? I am applying to the business school but I am naturally a creative writer and can not seem to tie anything related to business or the major…
Does UT even care if your essays are related to your major?
Your essays need not be about your major–feel free to write well in whatever style you choose. The business school appreciates both logic and well thought-out ideas. Are you auto-admit or hoping for admission via holistic review? There is a big picture idea about the cohesive application. Is the totality of the application a representation of you as a candidate with hopes, dreams, fearless motivation? You might look at your essays and application in toto and ask yourself if it fits the idea of the YOU for admission into one of the most selective business schools of the country.
Auto admission. I have a humanitarian/philanthropic tone to one of my essays. The other two expound on my grit and motivation to take initiative while solving problems out of own plight. @EngPII
McCombs doesn’t look at applications, it’s the admissions office…that’s why I’m curious if making the essay about your major would even help or hurt if you did not write about it…
