Hello,
I received my appointment to the Naval Academy December 18th. I got the Background check and Dental exam form. I accepted the appointment about 2 days later, and sent it in signed with my birth certificate. I've also had my background check completed and dental exam sent in. Anyone else in the same position received anything else from the Academy? I don't know if I need to check to see that the police station sent in my background check, or if I should just figure they did and wait.

Tyler

I wouldn't worry about the background check. They will let you know if it is incomplete. Around the middle of April, you will receive a Permit to Report packet. There are more forms in there then you can imagine. They start sending these packets out in April after most of the appointments have been made. There will be specific details about your reporting time, what you can bring, a host of papers to return, etc. So, sit back and relax a bit, but keep working on your fitness---situps, pushups, flutter kicks and run. Being in top shape will make your summer soooooooo much easier!

Flutter kicks....1 2 3 (1) 1 2 3 (2) Nightmares Wow I hate PT, but its DONE

Go out and buy Lt. Stew Smith's book , it's a guide to Naval or Service Academy Fitness. He actually works at the Naval Academy getting "wannabe Frogmen" ready. I have his Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness, and that thing is probably one of the hardest workouts ever. Just to start you need to be able to do 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, and 300 crunches (not in a row of course, but in a short time span!).

Get running, and working out.

I have the Naval Academy workout book researched by andrew flach. I got it for christmas. It has good workouts, even if you're not using it for academy related purposes, plus there are "fun facts" etc.

I don't know about for females, cause I am a guy, but my goal for the Merchant Marine Academy or NROTC when I go to one of them is 20+ pull ups (25 maybe), 80+push ups in 2 mins, 90+ sit ups in 2 mins, and being able to run like 2 miles in sub 14 mins.

It's getting hard to decide where to go now that I have an NROTC scholarship to Northwestern (hopefully I'll get in!).

I just discovered that I can do pullups on the shower rod in my dorm...... and that rocks my world..
