Has anybody else received a call from the Academy officer assigned to their application? [Not the BGO but a Lt. at the Academy.] I have nomination from both Sen & MOC, 1500+ SAT, top 5% of competitive high school, reasonable leadership activities, good summer seminar, etc. Passed physical and DODMER, all good. She had a few questions about application and said I went before the board soon. Meaning?

Yes...the same thing happened to my son. He was asked questions about CVW and SS. He has been QQQ'd since Late October and has a nomination. At this point he is deferred...no decision made. He has 1550 SAT's and good EC's. Is missing a Varsity Sport although participates in out of school sports and does need a vision waiver. Good leadership, Boy's State etc. We had not expected to hear anything until the end especially due to the vision waiver so we were surprised by the phone call. It was an opportunity to ask more questions... we aren't sure if it meant anything else.

Where are you from JamTex?

Are you sure you are not secretly my mom? Very similar facts and statistics.
Did you receive a letter re: deferred decision? Is deferral the same as wait listed?
Guess I'll just wait and see; can't do any more about my application or other information now.

JamTex~Sorry, not your Mom but the "deferred status / no decision made" came from our Blue and Gold officer. Apparently they have a different portal on the Web where they can see status. He has been great about keeping my son informed when there has been a change. He let us know he went from deferred / needed more info to QQQ'd this fall. All of his EC's didn't fit on the form as they didn't quite fit some of the categories. He carefully completed the form and added an attachment because the computer scanner wouldn't see a lot completed. We wonder if that has caused some questions.

He answered the questions posed by the Academy honestly and told them he was very interested in an appointment but that he really wants to look at all his options at the time. USNA being one of his top choices. Perhaps not the best politically correct answer but he has an NROTC scholarship and several other things to consider. I / we believe when making a decision of this importance (hoping that he will have the decsion to make) it's best to weigh all your options.

Best of luck to you...JM

I asked my boyfriend for an appointment for valentine's day, but alas, i had to settle for roses, chocolate and a necklace...... oh well, i wasn't able to give him an NROTC scholarship either haha!
