On the acceptance sheet there is a place to request that they send you an airline ticket in early June. It asks for a first choice and second choice for a departure city. It also has the option of arriving by private auto. I believe that is the travel info. In the other paperwork it also says they will be sending more detailed information when they receive your acceptance.

Stealth is correct, that's how we did it for 2010.

I wonder how long I have to wait before I get mine in the mail. I'm so jealous! :) I already got mine for West Point and Annapolis is on the way, but I can't wait for the one from USAFA. First choice, obviously! ;)Congratulations to all of you guys!

redhead89, Appointments to West Point, Annapolis, AND Air Force Academy??? Wow. Is it common for congressmen to nominate applicants to multiple academies? It doesn't appear to work that way where we live.

Hey guys, I haven't posted in a while, but

Hey guys, sorry about that last post, but I haven't been on here in a while... Anyways, while I was at home two days before Christmas I got a call from my officer of admissions and he informed me that I was going to be offered an appointment! I can't wait! What is the day that we have to be out at the Air Force Academy as cadets?

June 28, 2007

mauahaha! See you soon too.

I'm going to laugh when one of yall is in my squad next year. ;)

hornetguy are you a first year right now?

yes I am.

All I can say is, if you're in my squad, you'll see me every morning. In a good way of course.

lol. quick reply. are you back at USAFA now? or still enjoying the last bit of your break?

Still enjoying the last bit of break lol. WP and Navy went back the 2nd, we don't till the 7th. fun times....almost over though. :(

When appointees come for orientation in April, are they matched up with a specific cadet for the night in the dorms, or do they go with someone that they pick on Monday? What I am asking, is....can an appointee request a certain cadet to be placed with, or does the Academy just place them randomly?

In response to rgdcos, I got a principal nomination to USAFA and nomination to West Point from my congressman, and a nomination to Annapolis from one of my senators. I guess it depends on how many people from your district apply for nominations, and if they have any leftover spots. There were 25 from my district, and I don't think that's very many. I was the only girl too. :) Just depends on where you live.

Oh, and I got my appointment package in the mail today!!! Woop woop!!! ;)

For orientation, you will go to Clune arena and cadets will just come pick ya out of the crowd. No matching or anything I believe. So, if you want anyone in particular, they can just go pick ya up.

On the same note, I've offered before, and will again, if any males want to stay with me my dorm is open. ;)

How did you learn about your appointment i.e. (call from Congess/Senator, Website change, Mailbox)? Did the official binder come U.S. Mail or Fedex? Army just showed up on the doorstop in a Fedex package day before Christmas.

Call from admissions advisor then website change.

My daughter saw her "appointment offered" on the website before she heard anything. She had a presidential nomination so no one called. The appoinment package just showed up a few weeks later in October.

ditto. appointment offered showed up on website about a week and 1/2 in advance. i think the delay in the mail was because of the snow storm they were having up there. not sure.
