Appointments!

Congratulations, Doug! Enjoy the paperwork.

Does anyone know how much time I have to send in my acceptance postcard following receipt of my appointment? Thanks.

Doug and PCRUNNER: Congratulations !!

Glad to see the participants on this discussion forum are having outstanding results.

PCRUNNER, I think you have 24 hours to return the card. Just kidding.

Take a couple of big breaths and then read your appointment materials again, slowly. I am sure they tell you the response deadline somewhere.

Hey, do they send us another big package of paperwork at any point in time? i.e., Navy sends their kids a permit to report in April. Do we get anything like that?

Darn...Way to give me a heart attack, aspen. Haha, I definitely shouldn't have believed it, but for a second...I did.

I've read through it a few times now, but I still can't find anything about a response deadline. Has anyone else found it..?

i know for Navy they need the response card back by May 1. I'm pretty sure thats how most colleges do it too so if thats any indication i'd say you have until then. I'm sure they want to give everyone time to think it over and look at all their options before choosing. they dont want anyone there who isnt totally comitted and is going to drop out right away.

My candidate page changed to show my nomination late last week, and by most accounts I should receive my appointment (have LoA) tomorrow or very shortly thereafter. I live pretty close to West Point (60 min away), so hopefully this should have an impact on the speed with which I receieve the green folder, but hypothetically if I do not receive it this week or next week, what is my next conceivable course of action? Call regional officer? Could it have something to do with 7th semester transcripts? Pretty much everyone has said that they've recieved their appointments without needing to send these in. It's very nerve-racking to be waiting to see what's in the mail all day and very dissappointing to not see it there when I get home.

usma2009:
Patience! Much of the military is hurry up and wait!
You have your LOA, nomination, and I assume your medical is in order or they would have told you otherwise. Remember that nominations probably arrived to the admissions office in a flood, and they are matching up nominations with appointments (for those with multiple nominations) and figuring out which MOC's slots has been filled, etc.

USMA2009:

If it's any comfort, you're not alone. Our son has an LOA and had his nominations posted on the USMA site. He, too, is anxiously awaiting some word from USMA.

For those that have received nominations but have anxiously awaited the posting of your nominations on the USMA site; how's this. Our state representative's nomination was posted on the USMA site but we have yet to hear anything directly from his office. Go figure.

I am having the same problem--I now show a congressional nom as well, but haven't heard anything from him! I think it's a little odd but I am thinking that they wouldn't have put it there on accident...crosses fingers

Another day with nothing in the mail...

Sometimes, the representative waits on the notification so that he/she can call to tell you of your appointment, not your nomination.

Be strong...

Can anyone who's receieved their appointment tell me about how it actually arrives? By regular mail? I've seen the green folders and it doesn't seem like an envelope containing one would fit inside a mailbox. Still waiting, very nerve-racking.

Yes, it's a large package. It didn't fit in our mailbox so the mailman just left it by the front door. They probably wouldn't do so if it wasn't a secure area.

I know you're on pins and needles. We actually started joking that the pins and needles were hurting us because there were so many. And it was horrible when the mail was late.

Keep the faith! All college admissions offices are swamped right now. It took 2-3 weeks for the appointment to arrive after the nomination appeared on the CIS. Then just wait until you see the additions on your page after sending in the acceptance card. It's very cool!

Got it today.

Way to go USMA2009!!

I know you've been anxiously awaiting word. Congratulations and have a great night's sleep tonight.

Just wondering, do you think you will accept the appointment? ( Just kidding)

Hooray!

(V funny, aspen...)

Congratulations, usma2009! Now your name really fits.

Does anyone have information on when, after we return our acceptance card, we'll receive information regarding company, what to bring, other R-Day information not coverd in the "Instructions for Candidates Offered Admission" packet?

We just received the dental letter yesterday, about 2 weeks after receiving the actual appointment package. I understand that a letter about boots will arrive sometime in April. We opened an account on-line with the Pentagon Credit Union. The materials arrived in the mail in about 5 days. Also, about 1 week after mailing in the acceptance card, the web site was updated and included additional information.

As for other R-day information, I suspect that some will arrive. But you already have a list of what you should bring and what you should not bring for CBT. From everything I've seen and read, it seems like you will receive assignments when you arrive bright and early on 6/27.
