ya I asked the same thing cause i dont want to be in band anymore....one of the band mids told me that on I-day when you are going to each station during in-processing, at one table they will just ask you if you ever played in band. If you say yes they put a B on your hand and you mostlikey end up in band company. They said if you don't want to be in band just say no.

some food for thought...since there are a few people commited to USMMA, we might as well use our real names. I think it will be interesteing to meet you guys during indoc. BTW, im Alex.

piece of advice, don't use your real names. The internet can be a bad thing at a school like this. Keep as much of your anominity as possible

cdb, its not like we are exchanging social security numbers, giving out our addresses, or any other significant information. There are prolly thousands of Annes from St. Louis

you're right C - thanks for the advice - Off to play DDR CYA

not the point I was making, I guess you might find out when you get here. Great thing about advice is you can take it or leave it.

Ok.....i haven't said anything about your advice.....but cdb, you have been at the academy so I'm going with your advice and not using my name anymore, but please don't drag me in to this

Hey CB, the "General" is up my butt about asking you about the calc classes up there. I'm attending my last trig class tonight at the local college and prolly ending up with a B. However, I haven't retained crap from a class where the prof. sometimes showed up. Do you have calc I & II both the first year and how much of a killer is it? Yep, if you're wondering, I scored higher on verbal than math on the SATs so its a real concern if I make it up there. I want to go into logistics so was wondering if its less difficult. I foresee a tutor in my furture =O Thought I'd ask so she can get out of my computer room wenching at me and get back in the kitchen and make me some cookies. She says "thanks"

CB....I was wondering during Indoc....how much running do you do as far as distance, and is it in formation or by yourself? I can run about 3.5 with out much trouble, I just want to make sure that I don't drop out of any runs. Thanks

you dont have to even say CB jamz. Anyway, yes you will take calc 1 and 2 here your first year. They way they work it is you take a placement exam during indoc. They say not to worry, but I think the thing is kinda of a big dea because if you flunk it you will be put into college math. College math is alegbra and pre-calc, but the bad part about college math is you will either have to take calc 2 during summer school your next year and either miss you break or a lot of sea time, or you will have to lag it. Lagging a class is when you take in in addition to all your other classes after they are done, so your load is bigger. When they ask you what level math you reached, say you got to pre calc ( which I would say trig is, so your not lying). Then just dont shank the pre test. Don't freak out about it too hard. If you cannot get to a calc class, try to just sit in on one at a local college, or even easier buy a kaplan or princton review book/cdrom and start doing problems on your own. Only do that if you are really worried and don't want to flunk the test. Keep on calling the admissions people, do it everyday if you have to. I know how hard it is to play the waiting game. Some guys found out a couple of days before indoc.

I think the farthest run is 4 or 5 miles, and all runs except the PRT are in formation. I think formation runs are tougher because you can't control your pace of stride length. If you are concerned about the running then I would recommend running 12-20 miles a week, in 2, 3, or 5 mile increments 5-6 days a week. I think if you did that now from till indoc, and then hit the weight room occasionally, and did pullups/pushups/sit ups, then you will be a PT stud when you come here. Find something that works for you though

cdb, what makes a PT stud? I mean, what kind of numbers on the runs and the cals does a PT stud make? Like on a PRT for example.

here is my workout routine: run 3 miles 3 times a week in the morning, run 1.5 miles before lifting (about 11 min or so) 7 times a week, and rotate lifting chest and arms, back, and legs every 3 days. Hopefully this will get me in good enough shape to breeze through indoc. anything to add or change in my routine cdb, considering you have already been through it.

I'M IN! I'm IN! GOT THE CALL TONIGHT!!!!!

Congratulations jamz, just stay out of trouble now.

USMMA2009, that sounds good, all i can think of would be to incorporate more distance- up to 5 miles or 7 perhaps- and then to make sure to give yourself some time off.

congrats jmaz...its nice to hear that call (or get the letter) after all this time. cdb, do you happen to know at what pace they run the distance runs at? i run my 3 miles at around a 9 minute pace (maybe 8:30 or even 8 on a good day), but i dont know if that is considered fast enough

Congrats Jamz....bet your happy the wait is over, see you in July!!

I think I may be going to Illinois...but either way I'm gonna be a PT stud!

cdb, do you know if it is possible to get PRK well at the academy, and if so do you have to pay for it or is it covered?
