Appointments

Daughters appointment to the Naval Academy arrived in the mail today (Dated 12-21-2004)!

that's awesome! Congratulations!

Shogun,

Congratulations to your daughter! I know she has already received an appt from WP. I know how proud you are.

We're looking forward (and thinking positively) about receiving that green folder from WP after the new year.

WOOHOO!!! Congratulations to your daughter, shogun! I also received an appointment in the mail late yesterday afternoon. :D Not sure why it took so long getting here since I live in Virginia, but it doesn't really matter now. I celebrated last night after work. Ended up being a late night for me. Congrats again, shogun!!! Maybe I'll meet your daughter in June. Didn't you say that she runs track/XC also?

Navgirl
Yes, she runs track/cc and has been contacted by Navy abt crew and the Merch Marine Academy about basketball. Not sure what sport she will decide on but most likely cross country. She has some decision making ahead of her. Congrats on the appointment! It took 7 days to get here (from the post mark) so I/m guessing the mail had the same issue as the airlines over the xmas holiday! Good luck with your decision---I know you have some fabulous choices as well!

Congrats da both of yahs!!!!! I just finished my medical yesterday so it might be a while for me, but I am getting really excited!!! Make sure you get a hotel room right away because I heard those go really fast and people who arrive for I day make reservations for graduation. What did the letters say exactly? Again congrats!!!

Wow, so happy for you both! Congratulations!

Yeahh Im Going To Naps! Wooo Hooo!

Shogun: Congratulations to you and your daughter. She is certainly in an elite class of candidates with double appointments.

Have a great new year.

congrats everyone! :D

Congratulations AdmiralThomas!

shogun, I hope your daughter sticks with track/XC at Navy. I also thought about crew, but as much as I love it, I'm going to stick with what I have more experience in. Wish I could do both, but from what I understand it would be extremely difficult.

Thanks gopherkitty, twofme & usna_reject!!!

Daughter has made her decision and has decided to accept the appointment from West Point. The good news is that her turning down the Naval Academy Appointment will open another slot for someone who wants to go Navy. I will remain on this board as there may be some things about the Naval Academy process I can help with. Best of luck to all--college admissions is a trying process, but the parents and students here are more than up to the task!

Well I'm sorry for that.... Just kidding. Either service academy is a great choice congrats to your daught for her amazing feat!!!

Congrats Shogun to you and to your daughter! It is great that she has made her decision and can now focus on what she needs to do to be ready and take some time to enjoy the remainder of HS. Our country is lucky to have a daughter like yours make such a choice. Please stay on the board and let us know how she is doing! Best Wishes~Juniromom

shogun, congrats to your daughter for making a very difficult decision! I will miss running track/XC with her at USNA, if I choose to go. Thanks for all your help and support here on CC! You've been great!!!

Marines-4-me~Congrats on your decision. I hope you will keep us all updated as the next few months roll by! New York state will be beautiful for you this summer and fall but be prepared for the winters :-) We had quite a bit of snow this week during a very mild winter! You will enjoy watching Surviving West Point ...it's better to go prepared.

To all the future Academy bound students ~ Somewhere I read it is a great idea to write yourself a letter sometime soon (after your appointment) and seal it...give it to your parents to mail about halfway through beast or plebe summer. Write down why your passion is an academy. It will help to remind you during the summer when things look so different!

Best of Luck!

hi, a quick question....My sister recieved a letter of appointment from USNA yesterday (YAY!). It said "Dear(name), I am pleased to offer you an appointment to the United States Naval Academy as the member of the class of 2009..." It came in a medium sized envelope and was just a normal letter. I've heard that appointments usually come in diploma looking things. Is this true, and if so why didn't my sister get one of those? Do only some people get them, for example, those who are higher qualified than others? Will she possibly get one only AFTER she has accepted the appointment? I've seen that some of you have also gotten appointments. Did yours come in a diploma type thing? just a thought... I would appreciate any insight on this. Thanks!

twofme-I got the normal envelope. Then about a week later I got the official thing. Usually I think your Blue and Gold Officer will try and give you the diplomoa looking thing in person, but mine was unable to so he mailed it. I assume she will also be recieving it shortly.
I don't think they wait until you accept to send it out. I had already accepted it and mailed it, but I doubt they would have received it by the time I got the diploma-looking thing.

sigh.... of RELIEF! For a minute there I thought my sister was being gipped! Thanks so much for your quick response!! It was very helpful. Congrats by the way on your appointment!.....running along to tell sister great news!
