***APRIL 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

I THINK I AM GOING TO CRY!! I normally go over time limit on the reading and science but i finished every section with 5 minutes to spare…

Science was so hard. I am a science girl all the way but when they threw that quark question at me I totally blanked out lol. I also rushed through it because I knew i was running out of time and guessed on a couple (2-3)… I feel science is going to have the worst subscore. -_-

That Science was brutal. Reading was easy, Math was hard and English was average.

I feel like the ACT is getting gradually harder …

I literally practiced so much and just blew it

@courtneykur I feel you courtney

Was this the first act having all these changes in format?

Same question as lantyr. Did the ACT ever announce the new double paragraph and 6 passage changes to their exam or are changes like this just normal?

Curve Predictions?:
English - average
Math - idk
Reading - a bit harsh
Science - hopefully generous

@blargenshmargen double paragraph? Do you mean the reading passage that is sorta similar to what the SAT CR section does (two different passages)?

WAIT READING WAS EASIEST WTH??? I usually do pretty well on reading but this one I’m pretty positive I bombed- like 4-7 wrong at least. (Fml the curve is going to be horrible.)
English- normal, a few iffy ones

Math- normal, finished with 5 minutes to check over
Reading- I was starting the last passage as the proctor called 5 minutes. dead
Science- considering science is usually my worst, this was okay… Now that everyone’s like “I bombed it” I’m having second thoughts… I finished with enough time to look over

…looks like I’m taking the June one again…

I’m with you I thought the reading was pretty difficult.

Well I didn’t think the reading was that hard. I still think I did bad because I got to the last passage with like 4 minutes left and had to guess on most of those. Math I thought a lot of the last 10 were really hard. The Science was horrible, and the English was normal.

The questions for Reading were straightforward imo. There were barely any of those very confusing critical thinking questions. This was the first ever Reading section where most of the time I did not even need to look back at the passage to answer the question. I spent 4 minutes reading each passage (while underlining etc)) then used 4 more minutes to answer the questions. I paced myself very well too (the proctor said there was 5 minutes left when I had three more questions to do for the last passage).

From easiest to hardest…

Comet > Memoir (double paragraph) > German Guy/Argentinian Ant

@chrysanthemum

Yeah I.noticed that too. The reading questions were extremely straightforward so it made things so much easier

Do y’all think -1 math will be 36?

What form did you guys get?

73G

What do people think the scoring on English and Science will be???

i thought the science was impossible… did they announce these new changes to the test or nah

@greysanatomy3113 Based on what everyone’s saying, I think English will either be -0 or -1 and science will be -2

The changed Math, Reading and Science

Math- they incorporated hard questions into 1-40

Reading- double passage, not too new

Science- were there any 5 Q passages? i had no idea what was going on the whole time…
