***April 2016 ACT Discussion Thread***

Ugh, S’s composite dropped 1 point, english went down 6, math went down 7, but reading went up 7. Guess he really wasn’t in the mood that day.

I’m in the U.S and still registered (East Coast: Virginia), so we can enjoy the wait together

S got a 33 composite:

E 31
M 33
R 32
S 36

This was his first time taking it. He’s thinking of retaking it in June to improve the Math score. Is it worth it?

@auntyji Yes, but not to imrpove his math score rather his english and reading.

@darkpoiisons My son took it with writing and his score is up (except for the writing) so, yes…

@PsychicPanda2 English & Reading are not his strongest skill…he was getting 31-32 in E & R and 35-36 in M & S in practice tests. Also, June has SAT II tests & finals so not a ton of time to prep.

Not sure how the whole superscore thing works…he’ll have to send both scores, right?

@maggiesss I’ll probably check once again every day for the next week or so, and if nothing comes out by then, I really don’t know. I’m just hoping we’re not one of the groups that is being delayed.

Ugh, no scores posted for S yet. Do they only release at midnight or is it on a rolling basis?

When will the next batch of scores be released? The ACT student website says it usually comes out on Wednesday or Thursday, so does that mean we have chances of getting them tomorrow??

I’ll join the waiting party. This is so frustrating that we have to continue to wait for scores. i wonder what caused the delay, was it the testing site or her form? So many unanswered questions.

Ds scores were delayed almost a month last time so I feel your pain in waiting. This time they were available at the stroke of midnight.

She raised her math score by 3 points and her English score by 4 points…all with self prep just doing practice sections. She says she wants to take it one more time though.

@carachel2 thanks. Congrats on her bump in score!! My D just did some self prep too, but not much. She took just 2 practice tests over 6 weeks. I guess we will see if that was enough. She took it in October and did great but she wanted to raise it 2 points to feel more competitive (be in the top 25%, not middle 50) for the school she wants to apply ED to.

@goboy7089 Don’t let it get you down. Sometimes we hit our goals early, sometimes it takes a few attempts. And not everyone’s goals are the same. Just because some people are getting 36s, doesn’t mean that other students don’t have the right to be happy with a score somewhere in the 20s. Rock on brother!

To those asking about scores, my scores came out last night at 12 AM CST (I took the test 10 days ago), which is the earliest possible time. Scores are released every night at 12 AM CST. Scores for the writing section are not out for anyone and will be out in around 2 weeks I think.

@1CRKYO Are you sure that scores are released everynight at 12 AM CST? So should I check back again at midnight today? I thought I should wait til friday

According to http://blog.prepscholar.com/when-do-act-scores-come-out-act-score-release-schedule, it is possible that scores are released on any given night. I’m no expert but my advice would just be to check once per day.

Been through the waiting game several times with both kids. Usually they don’t release them again for a week, then twice a week after that.

HOWEVER that is just what usually happens. From time to time they will have a surprise release date. Kind of a crap shoot.

I’d suggest not driving yourself crazy staying up to midnight waiting for the posting. More often that not that just leads to frustration! Give it a peek about 9AM CST daily and see then.

ACT Twitter says next batch will be released this Friday. So no more scores Wednesday or Thursday :frowning:

I got a 32. When I took it I felt like I got a 27. I feel like the science curve was good because I got a 35 and felt decent about it. I don’t think the Math curve was too generous as I got a 31 when I’ve 36s on all the practice tests I’ve taken.

Ouch! Thanks for posting. It is in the comments of
