***April 2016 ACT Discussion Thread***

Hello guys, I am new to this site and I am worried about taking the ACT because the last one I had do in October failed pretty miserably, because I had not brought in a T-45 Calculator with me, and was wondering what is on the test, since pretty much :frowning: I missed almost a hundred days while as a Freshman while 70 days as a sophomore and 40 on Junior, while I’m trying to do my best to change that from happening, so I got 4 A’s and 1 B this time, and try to be an A and B honorable all this year long, and I don’t know if I can get a better score… since my ACT score has been a 13… And I tried to do my best to be a video game designer and I really stay home alot, So I really need help very bad only on math since Algebra II is easy. Since I don’t want to take Remediation class in the future since Remediation class means no credit, so is anyone doing a study group??

Coffeeaddicted: You can appeal the essay score by sending in a request and a $50 fee. Instructions on how to appeal it are on the ACT website, way down near the bottom. My daughter got a 36 on her first essay and then a 27 on the second test. It did not look right based upon her great writing skills in school. After they hand-scored it again the result went from a 27 to a 33. This may take several weeks to process, so the results will possibly not be ready in time to skip the April test if you were planning on that.

Who here is hype for the ACT! I’m doing cartwheels and drinking coffee while attempting to practice for this thing. Hopefully we get good curves and juicy questions. I’m banking for at least a 30+; I took a few practice tests and got around (27 E, 31 M, 29 R, 27 S) each time so I guess it all depends on the vibes at the test center.

I’ve used all of the official practice tests in the red book. Is there any place to get other official practice tests with scaling charts?

Can’t wait to kill it on this test!

@dylpkls91 Lets walk in armed, pencils ready and adrenaline focused, as we ultimately destroy this test! I’ve been sleepless for days waiting for next Saturday to come the hype is real!

Super Scared for the test I’ve prepared but my number fluctuates a lot 28-31 usually more 28s or 29s :-S

I wouldn’t be too worried a 29 is pretty good  @HindIIIEcoReye

Does anyone know what changes have been made to the ACT? Isn’t it different from before?

@krystalsoojungs The only change is the essay; the writing component is now scored from 1-36 instead of 1-12 and involved a different format so if you’re just practicing with the red book i’d take a look online for some insight

Just got a 34 on my last practice test so let’s hope that score–or better–shows up on the real test!

Oh boy. I am taking it as a sophomore. I am aiming for a 30+. The reading section is so difficult!!! Talk about a brutal time constraint

Your post #41 is a great piece of information. Do you know if you can appeal the SAT essay as well?

Do official act practice tests accurately reflect your actual act score?

I don’t know.

I just scored a 30C (30E, 33M, 28R, 27S) on the fourth practice test which is really exciting considering I’ve scored three consecutive 27’s in the red book! I was near giving up but I think after all those practice tests the material and strategies is really starting to become ingrained in my head. My ultimate score is a 30+, good luck to everyone on the April ACT!

Hoping for a 34, taking a 33 as well.

36 hours till show time who’s excited

not me… on practice tests, im getting consistent 35s in english, 34+ in math, 32-33 in reading, and always 28 or 29 in science… idk why… school sceince is usually my strong area… anyone know how to improve on science?
