Yeah but i need a 35 or 36 and by the looks of it this reading curve will be my downfall. Seriously, it can’t be that generous i agree, but for the first step down, it’s got to be 2.
I did see a previously administered exam on crackACT that had a one wrong 36 curve. That test had a double passage though.
Predicting:
E 36
M 35/36
R 32~34
S 34~36
I guessed on one math question and a few in reading.
Hate to break it to you guys, but reading is almost NEVER. -1 36. That reading was quite easy and I’m not even Someone that usually finds ACT reading doable. Definitely gonna be a standard curve for this one, and if you’re unlucky, maybe even a harsher one. -1 math wil almost certainly be 36( I’ve done plenty of practice tests and I have a feel for how the difficulties/curves generally relate)
Yeah but it was a double passage, oh man i really screwed up reading darn
Completely agreed. It was technically my bad that I didn’t do so hot on the reading section. I lost focus
But hopefully I still got a 33 on reading for a 35
Oh I didn’t have a double passage. You might have a chance if that is true.

Found this site to be helpful but I honestly have no idea how this one will go. It seemed like the general consensus was that for some of the english and writing, it was ambiguous, math was easy but it got a lot harder towards the last 10, and science was really bad.
Personally, I thought that the math was ok. English was good. Reading was strange (a lot of the questions seemed ambiguous). For reference, I’ve gotten straight 36’s for reading on my practice tests. Ironically, science tends to be my worst score (and it ranges a whole lot too, 28-32) but I finished early (~4 min left). LOL not sure if that’s good or not. Praying for the best!!! I don’t want to take the June one…
man that was an interesting test lolol
It’s my first time taking the official ACT (i’ve done prac tests tho)
I would say English was pretty easy, math was okay until like #50 onwards, reading was quite brutal, especially that last passage. And science was the absolute worst lol had to guess on quite a few
@bsdsj22 I’m international too what do you think of the reading section??
English- normal
Math- easy (probably only -0 to get 36)
Reading- quite bloody (hoping for a lenient curve)
Science- it scared me that I finished the whole thing with 7 minutes left (probably a bloody curve since the test was easy)
Maybe -0 36 -1 34
I finished English with around 10 minutes left
Finished math with around 5 minutes left (rechecked some work and guessed on one problem)
Reading was a rush to fill in every bubble
Science I finished with around 5 minutes left.
I took the test from Turkey. I had a 30 composite in December.
English was tricky a little: -4 or -5 probably a 31-32
Math: was very easy: -0 36
Reading: I always mess up the reading(My first reading in December was in the low 20’s) but this one was better hoping for a 30 with a -6 maybe (Also no double passages)
Science: Was very easy interestingly we had no conflicting viewpoints passages. -0 36
Writing: The essay topic was interesting and a subject I had information on but because of the strict gradings I can’t guess my score like a 30 would be okay for me.
Overall: I had done more than 20 practice tests, it was a relatively okay test and hoping for a 34 from 33.5…
Am I the only one that felt like that ACT was SUPER hard?? I’ve been taking practice test upon practice test out of the Real ACT prep book and have been doing very well on them, time and everything, until now…
Here’s my lowdown:
English: perfect, if not nearly perfect, score. Finished with 10 minutes left.
Math: okay for the most part, but probably missed 10 or more (I ran out of time and had to guess on quite a few).
Reading: First and second passage were all right, but I spent WAY too long on the third passage. I barely got to the fourth passage and was only able to truthfully answer about four questions before I had to randomly fill out the rest.
Science: I’m not science-minded, so, even though the test is not about one’s knowledge of science, I have a very hard time processing everything (I can read graphs well, but it just takes me a second to figure out what they’re asking because of the lingo). Time killed me, so I didn’t even get to the last experiment (which I could tell by just looking at it was the easiest, making me upset).
Essay: I think I did this right, but we all know that the scores have been wonky so idk.
It’s not like I can’t answer the questions, I just have a major problem with comprehending and executing these tasks quickly (this is with all areas of my life, too).
What do colleges think if you’re REALLY strong in one section but not as much in the others? I’ve always been really gifted with English, but, even though I make straight As in school (with all honors/ AP) and am 5/330 in my. class (due to one B that I should not have gotten and was not my fault; I’d have a 4.0 otherwise), I struggle a lot to do well in science and math.
I really have all the other qualifications to make me a strong candidate for top tier universities EXCEPT the ACT score. What do I do??
Sorry for the long post. This is my first real post on CC, and I just needed to get this all out.
Time to sign up for the June ACT!
Iam an international and found the reading section quite hard. I ran out of time so had to guess like 5-6 questions. We had a paper that was examined before and the curve was brutal for that one.
First time taking the ACT. I have never been so nervous in my life. My heart rate had to be at least 150-160bpm. My hands were shaking so much I could barely bubble in my answers.
I thought English was okay.
Math section was brutal. I’m in BC Calc and I’ve taken 5 practice tests from the red book and never got lower than a 36 on math. But I budgeted my time terribly and had to guess for 4-5.
Reading was easier than usual I felt. In practice tests I never finished and had to guess 3-4, but I finished this one.
I thought Science was okay. I think some questions were difficult but not the way some are making it out to be.
I’ll probably finish with a ~28-29, which sucks cuz I got 31-32 on all my practice tests and I was aiming for a 34. I never woulda thought that the Math section would be my downfall. Math has always been my strength and reading my weakness but for some reason it switched on this test.
Guys, what’s the date that the ACT will release scores?
Also, here’s my prediction:
English: I think I did pretty well. I was just a little bit confused about a couple, but overall I think it was alright. Had 5 minutes to spare at the end.
Math: I also think I did well enough over here. Got to answer every question and I felt pretty confident at the end with a couple minutes to spare.
Reading: This one’s a total wildcard. I think the answers I chose were right, but for 2 of them (that i can remember at least) I had to make some sort of an educated guess. I hope that I guessed right…
Science: Again, this one’s a wildcard. I got to answer every single one of them, but 2 of them probably threw me off.
I took the ACT in februrary, and I got a 32 C (34 E, 35 M, 33 R, 26 S LOL, 30 W). It’s an alright score, but I got a 2270 on the SAT in January which was completely unexpected, so unless I get a 34 on this one, I’m not going to submit it. Overall though, the ACT is a much better test than the old SAT was. Not too sure about this new SAT format, but apparently it’s a hell of a lot easier than the old one.
@roboticsnerd33 :O, i’m glad you feel you did well. Personally, I felt it was extremely difficult, however, it was my first time. I’m praying for a 26+ but after seeing reddit I feel I bombed it xd.
To answer the question to when the scores come out, I believe the scores come out on Tuesday April 19. So I guess we can stay up late on Monday night to wait for our scores.
I am an Indian. This was the first time I took the ACT.
English was a bit hard for me,although I am expecting around 32-33.
The last part of the math section was really hard. I had to guess on 3.
According to me reading was easy and the questions were straightforward.
Truly speaking Science section really freaks me out. I am never able to finish it on time. I don’t know how,but I finished the Science section on time for the first time
The reading and science was so hard. What I have seen is that based on previous curves, there can be a lenient curve if the ACT deems it a hard test. According to most people they thought the reading and science were very difficult. There have been -1= 36 on science before and the curves can be lenient to the point where in both science and reading -8 could be a 30.
