***APRIL 2017 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

Does anyone’s status still say registered? Mine does, even though everyone who tested where I did has already received their scores.

@YaleYeah Yeah, I am still registered.

@aznboi4981 thank you! I used PR Cracking the ACT 2017 for practice tests and read a bunch of tips on PrepScholar to study

Just got my scores Yesterday. I got a 23 composite overall. English: 20, Math:22, Reading:26, Science:23. I did not take the essay. First time taking the test and was getting 24 on my practice tests. Any thoughts on what I can do to get a 30 or just improve. Thanks.

I have not gotten my scores back yet from this ACT, but I did take the test my freshman year and scored a Composite 26; English: 26; Math: 26; Reading: 27; Science: 24. My adivce would be the following:

Figure out your best chance at scoring high on one subject, and focus hardcore on that one subject. For me, this was math. I am very strong in Math, and took Algebra 2 as a freshman. Now in as a Junior college math classes, math came easy to me on this test where it did not for other people. I felt very confident about math going into the test, in fact, so confident that I did not even bring my graphing calculator. When you have one subject that you can almost bank on, it relieves stress for the other sections and helps you get into the zone when you take your test in your expertise area. Also, having that great score pulls up your composite.

If you feel that you can do this with more than one subject, then do it for as many as you can. I would take practice tests online and focus on one section each time and actually do it within the time restraints and don’t give yourself any extra points. The ACT is not going to give you points for stupid mistake problems that you would have gotten.

The biggest thing to do is focus on improving your weaknesses. This will totally change the dynamic of your score. I had no idea how to approach the science section, so I studied with different methods in practice tests and when it came time to test, I felt super confident in this area. My friend did the same strategy as I did, and scored a 36 on science this past test. She improved her science score my 8 points, so anything is possible.

My last advice is to not put stress on yourself. If you get your score its a bonus, but if you don’t, it’s not the end of the world - a score is a number and a number doesn’t define you. Keep in mind everything happens for a reason, and hard work does pay off!! Good luck on your next test!

Still waiting for scores here. Hopefully the Wednesday update will have something.

I am an international candidate. Does anybody know when the score is usually released? Is it U.S. Central Time 0:00a.m. every Wednesday and Friday?

I have a question for you all. What have books have you been using to prep for the Math section? I heard using an SAT Math 2 Subject Test book is best (as well as the NEW Red Book)… I’m so perplexed! :stuck_out_tongue: And what about science??? Reading is unchanged, right?

Stressed out that they might have lost my answer sheet because I definitely filled out my information accurately. Most people at my school already got their scores. Yikes. Is it normal for it to be delayed during this time?

Does the status necessarily have to change to “tested” before the next batch of score releases?

@OSHCEW They are released by 8 am CT.
Not necessarily, you can directly go to view my scores from registered.

How much time do you let pass before you contact ACT about the scores not being posted?

Still “registered” in CA.
No one we know has April scores.

@dragonmom3 we are in CA. My D had friends who were at the same testing center get theirs last Tuesday. She got hers on Friday. She was still registered late Thursday night but they were up on Friday morning.

What time is score uploaded? 0:00a.m central time or 8:00a.m.?

@OSHCEW 8 am.

Anybody get scores today?
Still waiting here in CA!

ALso waiting here in Omaha. Didn’t do writing. Just standard multiple choice.

Still waiting.

Just got my test back from Alberta, Canada.
35 English
34 Math
34 Reading
34 Science
I would definitely recommend Prep Scholar because I took the test in December of 2015 and I had a 29 E, 29 M, 27 R, 35 S for a total of 30. Being an athlete, this 34 composite is going to help a lot.
