Apts: Aggie Station vs the District

My son and 3 friends would like to live in an apt next year. They are currently all living at Traditions. They are trying to stay near the school since one of the kids doesn't have a car. They generally ride their bikes everywhere from Traditions - only using cars on occasional weekends. They want furnished, but it doesn't have to include everything (ie television) they can provide some stuff.

So far they like the District and Aggie Station. Supposedly the District is cheaper. Any others they should check out ? Or anything bad about either of these two?

thanks!

Why moving from Traditions? My son and his friend are looking at that dorm because of its proximity to campus.

The District is a great place to live, right on the bus line. However, the traffic is really bad at peak times to get there. Aggie Station is much more convenient if you are riding a bike. Good luck and Gig 'em!

AllThisIsNewToMe, there are tons of great apartment complexes. I did the apt search inbetween Christmas & New Years - got overwhelmed, we came home - made lists and phone calls, went back the week before school started and found what we were looking for. Our needs were very specific and difficult. We wanted a short term lease for Fall '11.
The District & Aggie Station are only two of many choices you have.
I agree with bandnerd91321, that part of CS can have very bad traffic. My daughter lived in Callaway House 09-10, it was very convenient to campus - but the traffic was horrible.
Have them take a look at several places - one I was very surprised at was Barcalona - they are old, but have been very well taken care of and restored. I actually lived there in the late 70’s. They are huge compared to other new apts.
Right now is a great time to reserve for next year becasue there are lots of incentives.
Good luck.
Jackfly - Traditions is a private dorm. It is great, but there is no real kitchen and you have to purchase a meal plan to live there.

Jackfly, Traditions was great for their first year! I think that all freshmen should live on campus. The kids didn’t really like the food there though - and it was very expensive. So for sophomore year they will live in an apt and just have a small meal plan for lunches on campus.

klparker312, You are always so helpful! I will tell them to look at Barcelona. The District offers a 9 month lease which makes them a lot cheaper than Aggie Station’s 12 month one. The amenties are just funny (standup tanning booth - seriously?) but I guess once one offers something the rest are forced to keep up.
