Hey guys, I’m sort of dieing in APUSH right now, and our classroom textbook is the American Pageant. I’m thinking about getting Crash Course or AMSCO, but I’m not sure if I need both. Any help?

I don’t have any experience with Crash Course or AMSCO, sorry.
I liked this, but it was for two college US history classes, not AP. Look up George Dewey and the corresponding song. Best thing I remember from that book.

Oooh, American Pageant…although it was very humorous, i did not like it very much. I used the textbook for the class–cuz our tests asked specific questions that can only be found in the textbook-- but not for the exam. There was no way I was going to reread the American Pageant. So I only read AMSCO for the exam, and it got me a 5. Trust me, AMSCO will save you a lot of time when April comes. I personally didn’t use Crash Course, but I guess you can still pair it up with AMSCO if you want to be super prepared.

Does AMSCO work as an American Pageant supplement, or is it more of a separate textbook entirely?

my APUSH class used A People and A Nation text. I know there is a website where you can access it for free. I found it to have a very unique perspective and I liked it very much. I studied primarily out of that book because I found the other review book I bought to be virtually useless. And I got a 5 on the test. Also, just a tip, read a lot of classic american lit, I used it a lot in my essay :)

I used AMSCO a couple times last year in place of the textbook. It did the job! But check out some outlines for the pageant online to guide your reading.

I thought it was like a separate textbook. The only difference was AMSCO was an easy read got straight to the point unlike the Pageant.

Honestly, crash course will provide no help for your class tests if they are from the American Pageant; the questions are just too specific. For the AP Test, however, the questions are much more general and Crash Course is perfect. Use AMSCO for the class tests and you should be fine.
