Hi!
Can someone give me your two cents: APUSH OR APUSW(WORLD), which course is relatively easier to take as a sophomore? My APUSH teacher is TOUGH. Taking world helps me to get a better grade in junior year? Anyone can help answer?
Hi!
Can someone give me your two cents: APUSH OR APUSW(WORLD), which course is relatively easier to take as a sophomore? My APUSH teacher is TOUGH. Taking world helps me to get a better grade in junior year? Anyone can help answer?
I meant taking APWH helps me get better grade of APUSH in junior?
Whichever history you take as a sophomore is going to be tough. AP History is not just the rote memorization that you are probably used to. The structure of all 3 classes and exams (APWH, APUS, APEH) are similar, so the first would help you for the second. For that reason, I would suggest APWH and then take APUSH as a junior. APWH has less at stake in the sense that fewer colleges give credit for it and the odds of getting a 5 are lower. Use that course as your learning experience. Good luck.
So CAN I assume APWH is easier to manage as the first AP course than APUSH?
@Dragon1128 The percentage of Sophomores in AP World versus APUSH is a lot higher. For many, it is their first AP class. Juniors usually take APUSH and people generally agree it is one of the harder history APs.
AP World is such a fun class. I recommend you take it sophomore year and US junior year.
I don’t think you can assume anything. From the AP exam perspective, they are comparable, IMO. For the difficulty of the class itself, it’s dependent upon the individual teachers. I do think that it’s safe to assume that, in general, teachers will hold APUSH students to a higher standard, since most students in these classes are juniors, whereas APWH has many sophs in the class. But again, that’s school specific.
You should take them in the usual order for your school.
I did APWH as a freshman and APUSH as a sophomore. I personally feel that APUSH is a lot more interesting. APWH covers a lot that I simply have no interest in (ancient china for example) However this is more of a personal preferrence. Workload wise, they were about the same with maybe a little more for APUSH
I think World is easier, but my APUSH teacher also isn;t as good as my AP World teacher.
AP World is a lot more of general knowledge, but APUSH goes way more in depth.
For example, for AP World you might just have to know that I have 3 kids. In APUSH you will only need to know that I have 1 kid, but you will need to know all the details about him like his birthday, hair color, eye color, etc.
